6 Ways To Improve Gas Mileage Today!

By Lee Allen

1. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under-inflated tires take considerably more energy to move your car. Check your tire pressure every time you fill up - it doesn't cost anything extra.

2. Have tires aligned. Poorly aligned tires also create drag, particularly on turns and while going uphill. Have your tires aligned at least every six to nine months.

3. Brakes. Have your brakes checked and aligned, at least every six to nine months. Inefficient, or poorly aligned brakes make braking less efficient and reduce overall mileage.

4. Have your engine tuned. If your engine isn't properly tuned, it runs less efficiently. Have your engine timing checked, and replace dirty or worn spark plugs.

5. Spend less time idling. You are getting no miles per gallon while you are idling. Although it takes more gas when you start your car, if you will be idling more than 30 seconds it is better to shut off your engine.

6. Improve your driving habits. Learn to accelerate less, do your errands during off-peak times when there is less traffic, think ahead and combine trips whenever possible. Avoid congestion, and especially stop and go traffic.

There are many more ways to improve gas mileage. Visit sites like www.gasforlessmoney.com and start practicing some of these gas-saving tips. A gas mileage improvement of just 10% can translate into a $5-$10 savings at the pump!

Getting Your Travel Tips From Blogs

By Stewart M. Russell

If you find that you don't wish to deal with a travel agent or company then you might find that blogs are your main source of information needed to travel. Travel agents and companies may try to give you a picture of a perfect place when they are discussing a travel destination. To get a more accurate picture you may have to rely on blogs.

Travel blogs are written and maintained by real travellers, those who have visited different cities and countries - those who know what they are talking about.

You will want to know as much information as you can get before you travel to a new destination. There are certain regulations and health requirements that you may not be aware of. The weather conditions and certain aspects of the area are also important and useful information to have before you head off to your chosen destination. Travel blogs can provide this information in an accurate and straightforward manner. They are not trying to entice you to travel to the location, only give you the best information they can.

Travel blogs may concentrate on a single subject, such as travel news or destination guides, or provide a blend of travel-related topics. Commentaries, discussions, recommendations, images and videos are commonly available in travel blogs.

Travel blogs are dedicated to giving the most up to date and accurate information that is available. They will be able to give recommendations on hotels, restaurants and attractions you might want to visit or even places you may want to stay away from.

Be careful when you read travel blogs. They are sometimes the product of a travel company that is trying to entice you to book accommodation in that particular location. Check out the author and try to find out about their credibility.

If you read a blog post carefully you can usually tell if the writer is being sincere or trying to sell you on something. If the whole post reads like an advertisement for a location then chances are it is. Make sure that the blogger mentions some negatives in their review. There's always something negative in ad destination and real travellers notice these things.

Many tourists hoping to travel to different countries get maximum benefit from travel blogs. Some Asian countries have lifestyles completely different to those from Western and European societies and knowing their culture, community and acceptable behaviour, a traveller has the confidence to visit and enjoy the place without undue trouble. Such information is imperative and travel blogs can help anyone who wants the realistic view on a particular destination.

Big Island Waterfalls

By Lena Hellsten

The Big Island of Hawaii hosts a number of amazing waterfalls, located around the island with many of them near the city Hilo and if you are visiting this beautiful island you don't want to miss out on visiting some of them.

Akaka Falls that is located about 10 minutes drive north of Hilo is an amazing masterpiece of natural beauty. To get there you have to do about half a mile of hiking through the rain forest and then you arrive at this 420 feet tall waterfall, with water cascading down into a blue pool.

Along the trail you also find the smaller but still remarkable Kahuna waterfall and if you have time for only one waterfall hike, this is probably the one you want to go for. It not only gives you opportunity to see two of the most gorgeous waterfalls in the whole state of Hawaii, the hike will also provide you with the experience of the diverse nature at the Big Island.

At Waipi'o Valley, on the north side of the island, you also find a lot of beautiful waterfalls. This valley has an almost magical feeling to it with a lushness found in few other places.

You can get to the valley by car, and then you preferably take a few hours or more and explore the area on foot. One of the most beautiful waterfalls here is called Hi'ilawe, but you will find hundreds of them, rushing down the hills of the this wonderful valley.

Rainbow Falls is another amazing waterfall that's located close to Hilo. You get there easily by car and the easy access in combination with the magnificence of the 80 feet falls into the 100 feet wide clear blue pool, makes it one of the favorites to visit. The best time to see Rainbow Falls is in the mornings, with less tourists and the sun rising over the trees. Why not go on an early hike on one of the trails to get the most spectacular view of the falls?

At the World Botanical Garden of Hawaii, located north of Hilo you find the picturesque Uma Uma Falls. This is a tree-level fall that pours down into three small, tranquil pools all surrounded up by beautiful lava stones and trees and plants. The garden is a quite new establishment and has not yet been landscaped fully, so it still gives you a feeling of being in the wild.

This amazing island has of course more waterfalls than is possible to review here, but these are some of the favorite picks. Enjoy the beauty that this island is providing its visitors.

Travel Insurance

Buying travel insurance can be simple, if you know what to do. When you purchase your travel insurance remember that the policy wording can be very involved and specific and underwriters have the right to refuse payment if your policy does not cover even a single aspect of your insurance claim. You need to know to what extent you are covered and rest assured that your policy wording can also be your best friend in times of doubt. Examples of mistakes that might render you unworthy of a claim include having a different name on your travel documents to those on your passport (for example if you still have your passport in your maiden name and have booked your flight in your married name); not getting a police report at the scene of a crime; injury incurred while under the influence of alcohol and leaving baggage unattended in a case of theft.

You will find countless reviews online sent in by holiday makers who have lost money because they either didn't have insurance in the first place or neglected to familiarise themselves with the fine print on their policy meaning they thought they were covered in certain situations when in fact they weren't. So, even more important than getting travel insurance is making sure that you purchase the correct policy and you understand exactly what is and is not covered in your policy. Do not hesitate to voice any queries and always read your policy wording carefully before purchasing your travel insurance.

Traveling Overseas? Watch out for These Fees from Your Car Rental

By Amy Nutt

When you travel abroad you will face a lot of different fees from different places. Taxes are going to be different, you will pay additional security fees for your airfare, and you will even pay fees to exchange your money! One place you can save money on these fees, however, is with the car rental company, or car hire company as they are known in Europe. When you are renting a car overseas, watch out for these common fees, and don?t pay them if you don?t need to!

Service Fee for Booking at the Counter

When you are traveling overseas, make sure you book your car rental early. Even if you do it the night before you need the car, you will save money. Renting the car from the counter will always cost more, and sometimes quite a bit more. Call the car hire company before you need the car to reserve one, or use the Internet to make your booking.

Also, try to make your arrangements before you leave America. You will find that this saves you money, as you will not have to worry about exchange rates or contracts written in a foreign language. Remember, if you sign a contract that has hidden fees or clauses in it, you are bound to pay those fees of follow those clauses. When you do your car rental booking in the States, you will be given a contract in English.

Late Return Charges

Late return charges are a common fee that car hire companies charge, yet this one is quite easy to avoid. Find out the specific time that you need to return the car. This will be different with each company. Some will start your rental day at the time you rent the car, while others have a specific hour that they expect cars to be returned. Even if you return the car on the right day, if it is returned at the wrong time you will be charged a late return fee. This can be as much as a full day?s rental, even if the car is just an hour late.

Gas Charges

Like car rental companies in the United States, car hire companies overseas will usually charge a gas charge. Find out if you can return the car on full to avoid this charge. The car rental company is going to charge more for the gas than you will pay at the fuel station. This gas charge may not be thoroughly explained to you when you pick up the car, so make sure you ask about it. Remember, once the car hire company has your credit card, you can be charged any fees outlined in the contract, even if they do not explain the fee to you verbally.

Consider Driving a Stick

In Europe, manual transmissions are more common than automatic transmissions. If you need to rent an automatic, you will pay an additional fee. If you know how to drive a stick shift, you should use one to save money on the car rental.

Have Drivers Who Are the Right Age

Most car hire companies will charge an additional fee for young or old drivers. Those who are under 25 or over 70 will cost more as drivers on your rental agreement. To avoid this fee, try to have someone in your group who is between 25 and 70 to serve as the driver. Additionally, you will pay a fee if you add more than one driver to the contract.

Renting a car overseas requires a bit of planning ahead and some research, but it can be a fairly pleasant experience. Make sure you know what fees to watch for, avoid them when possible, and rent the car that you need to enjoy your trip. Soon you will be on the road exploring the country of your choice in a comfortable, and affordable, rental car.

Harris Tweed and the Isle of Harris

By Angus Macleod

While Scotland is only a small nation with an historically small population the influence of the Scots upon the world of today is disproportional. Throughout history a disproportionate number of Scottish men and women have played incredibly important roles in the history of the vast majority of countries of the world. From the Founding Fathers to American Presidents, British Prime Ministers to the great many explorers and missionaries the Scottish have help shape modern society. However Scotland is most widely known for it's tartan, Harris Tweed, bagpipes and the likes.

Though the vast majority consider tartan and Harris Tweed to be fundamentally traditional Scottish nothing could be further from the truth. In actual fact much of what we consider to be traditionally Scottish was a purely Victorian exaggeration (and some say an invention). The famous author Sir Walter Scott and others took elements of the Scottish Highland culture and redesigned it in a more palatable form for the King of England. When Queen Victoria and Albert fell in love with the country more such creations developed to please the Royals and their parties.

It could be said that Sir Walter Scott and Queen Victoria created the Scottish tourism industry. Although there had been earlier visitors to Scotland they were few and far between as the country was remote and communication links were poor. Throughout the Victorian period interest in Scotland grew and, with the advent of railway systems, Scotland became the playground of the upper classes who indulged in hunting, fishing and golf.

While virtually all of the Victorian tourists wore Harris Tweed few visited the island which produced it. The Isle of Harris is a remote island in the Outer Hebrides and it was there, in 1844 that, under instruction of the Earl of Dunmore, the local weavers first produced the incredibly hard wearing material. Such were the qualities of the cloth, and the promotional work of Lady Dunmore, that it quickly became the height of fashion.

Harris Tweed is still produced today and the methods used have changed little. It can only be made in the Outer Hebrides and this fact helped to protect the trade from competition. Creation of the cloth is labor intensive as it is hand made. Using local wool and local natural colorings the material was tough but, eventually, materials produced abroad became popular and it's production decreased.

In many ways Harris Tweed has remained a popular material with many and the typical Harris Tweed jacket still sells extremely well. In recent years use of the material has diversified greatly and has been used in high fashion on a number of occasions. It is now possible to find a wide selection of product made from it and companies, such as Nike, have recognized it's qualities and used it in their products.

In recent decades the Isle of Harris has seem a massive increase in the number of people visiting the island and tourism is now a major element of the local economy. Traditionally there have been summer and winter industries in the Hebrides and the production of Harris Tweed has always had a vital role. Unfortunately in the last few years the tweed industry has been in crisis and, at this moment, it is in something of a state of flux with the main mill closing. There is little doubt it will still be produced but the future is uncertain.

The Isle of Harris has plenty to entertain the visitor though most arrive with the sole intention of relaxing. Of course the unique landscape, fantastic beaches and seascapes, are world renowned but many now visit to trace their family roots, enjoy sports competitions, attend Gaelic and Celtic music gatherings and many, many other reasons. You will be glad to hear that getting to the Isle of Harris is far easier than during the Victorian era. Today there are regular flights to Stornoway on the adjoining Isle of Lewis but the vast majority arrive by ferry from the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides (which is now joined to Scotland by a bridge).

Hiking - Getting Started

By Clinton Maxwell

Are you thinking about taking up the challenging and exhilarating activity of hiking? It is surely something that's rewarding but it?s hard to know what to expect if you?ve never tried it. Here are some things to expect and some myths about hiking.

Many people think of the negatives that are associated with hiking. There are insects, blisters on your feet, sore legs and an aching back. While this may sound unpleasant, there are many rewards which outweigh these drawbacks. You?ll be able to get outside the city and enjoy the fresh air and the chance to commune with nature. Not only will you be able to get physical exercise but you?ll also have some solitude to gain mental release. Having a hiking a buddy will also give you time to connect with a friend or a relative (or make new friends).

There are some myths or misguided thoughts associated with hiking. Some confuse hiking with mountain climbing which is something completely different. Climbing requires special gear and techniques for scaling steep grades and the sport can be potentially dangerous. Hiking is more of an activity than a sport. While hiking can have some dangers, such as getting lost or bitten by a snake, it is an extremely safe activity.

Hiking requires you to have some basics but no special equipment is necessary, especially if you?re just starting off on short, day hikes. All you?ll need to get started are some good hiking boots and appropriate clothing for the climate you?ll be hiking in.

While running or walking shoes will suffice for a hike of a couple of hours, you?ll want to invest in some proper hiking boots if you want to really pursue hiking. Hiking boots give you the proper support, the right amount of insulation and the soles are specially made for rough and slippery terrain. While they may cost more than you think they should, they will be well worth the investment. A well made pair of hiking boots will last you years.

Hiking on well marked, well trodden paths are pretty straight forward and you have little chance of getting lost. You should bring a compass and map, especially if you?re interested in getting off the trail. Make sure you know how to use them before you start out on your hike. Once you get more experienced and adventurous you may consider purchasing a GPS unit which uses satellites to locate your position and direction.

Hiking is sure to be something that you?ll enjoy and benefit from. There is very little equipment needed to get started so what are you waiting for?

How To Reduce Your Transportation Costs While Traveling

By Vince Paxton

Fun In San Diego

By Thomas Burtonelli

Having lived in San Diego for much of my life, I find it amazing that many visitors stick to just the Zoo and beaches. My friends, there is so much more to do. In fact, here are some attractions for families and single adults alike.

Viva la Mexico! San Diego sits on the border with Tijuana just to the south. TJ, as it is known, is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of drug crime lately, so make sure to check with locals on that status before heading down.

Now for something completely different. You haven't lived until you've gone grunion hunting. Grunion are little fish that come up on the beach to breed in the middle of the night during full moons. You chase them. Adult beverages are recommended.

Like to play the slots? A good card game sound fun? Well, gambling is illegal in San Diego County. However, Indian reservations have no such restrictions and they surround San Diego. Sycuan's is a popular one.

Bro, I wanna surf. If this sounds like a good statement to you, I have great news. San Diego is stuffed with surf schools. You can look them up online or ask around your area. There's one just about every three blocks.

Like the idea of a Safari? The Wild Animal Park in San Diego has animals in open spaces. You can view them by hopping on a train that scoots through the park. Wild animals not in cages, oh my!

San Diego and beaches are two terms that go together. There are lots of little beaches. If you want a beach with a bit of a hippie vibe, Ocean Beach is the place. From head shops to beer bars, OB has a little something for everyone.

Looking for something really different? How about bull fighting? They don't allow it in San Diego, but you can hop across the border and catch it in Tijuana. The bull ring is located on the coast to the west of the city.

From golfing to hang gliding to just about anything you can think of, San Diego has it. Drive, fly, take a train or walk to San Diego and you will be happy you did at the end of the trip. In fact, many people never actually go home.

Why Recommend Alaska Adventures to Travelers

By Johnathan Bakers

If you are seeking some raw, natural beauty, you should definitely consider an Alaska outdoor vacation where you can enjoy some of its popular attractions such as glaciers, wildlife and unspoiled waters. Since Alaska is about the ?great outdoors,? you surely cannot visit the area without including some fun outdoor activities to your itinerary.

One of the best features of an outdoor adventure trip to Alaska is that exposure to the beautiful state is varied, offering something for everything. Those that are not that physically active can still enjoy the state?s beauty and even enjoy some of the more mild adventure activities. Such activities might include a day charter on a boat or plane to see the local wildlife. You could very easily see mating seals, moose, polar bears or even humpback whales, among so many other fascinating animals. Other mild activities include a visit to see glaciers or a historic gold mining town. For those up to it, you could also try out a day hike through the area.

Alaska also offers activities for the traveler seeking more wild adventure opportunities. Take a break from the mundane sightseeing and try kayaking off the beautiful Alaskan coast or white water rafting in the rapids. Or, try ice climbing on a glacier or backpacking in one of the state?s beautiful parks. The Denali National Park is a must-see. With so much adventure and fun, you surely will not miss the beach while immersed in the glory and fun of your Alaska outdoor adventure.

Though the weather doesn't match that of weather in alicante spain, Alaska cruises are a popular choice for many traveling to this untamed land for the first time. Cruises suffice both the adventure seekers and those in it for the sightseeing. If a fishing excursion does not sound intriguing, then you may rather enjoy a tour of an old, historic ghost town. Regardless of what you choose, doing what you enjoy is a lot of the fun in planning your Alaska adventure travel.

If you are traveling with a combination of personalities, it is best to have one base or ?travel headquarters? to suit everyone in the travel party. The best option would be one that can meet the needs of those preferring sightseeing tours as well as those seeking high energy, more adrenaline rushing outdoor activities.

The actual travel to Alaska can be an adventure itself and should also be considered. Cruises can depart from a port nearest to your home, allowing the ship to serve as the ?travel headquarters? for your travel party. Or, if you fly into Alaska you will need to rent a car or take a tax to your hotel or accommodations serving as a central spot.

A ravel agent can recommend the best travel arrangements for you, depending on your travel party, home location and budget. They can also help if something goes wrong, such as a delayed flight or hotel reservation problems. They can handle the unanticipated issue on your behalf and do so more efficiently than you could. Anyway, you?re the one on vacation!

Make Your Air Travel Easier: Know the Luggage Rules

By Pat Lowe

These days, airline travel is more complicated than ever. There are new size restrictions, new security requirements, and new rules about what may or may not be allowed in your carry on luggage. Although these rules can often seem like a pain, the restrictions and regulations are in place to protect travelers.

Keep up with the Changes

It's not a simple matter to know what the rules are. Sometimes you feel as if they're different each time you fly, which adds to the difficulty of planning your trip. Nevertheless, arriving at the airport unaware of the requirements is simply not acceptable. Without a doubt, the way to avoid luggage hassles at the airport is to make certain that you are knowledgeable about the rules ahead of time.

Check online before you pack. Airline websites are the best source of information on the current restrictions regarding carry on luggage. But remember that even though all airports throughout the country adhere to the same rules, sometimes they are construed in varying ways.

International flight rules for carry on luggage can be even more complicated than domestic flights. Security is much stricter and you will, of course, be subject to the rules and regulations of your destination country. This works in the same way when you are leaving that country and setting off on your journey home. You will need to be aware of the departing rules and regulations.

It might even seem as if some of the restrictions are more of a request than a requirement. You might be told to bring the bare minimum into the cabin as your carry on luggage. But you are indeed permitted to take luggage up to the maximum size and weight if you so desire.

Similarly, the Transportation Security Administration suggests that you should pack any electronic items in your checked luggage, but you are still permitted to take them in your carry on luggage if you choose.

Be Prepared

We have all seen the passenger who refuses to comply with the carry on luggage rules and tries to bring a larger bag or refuses to put something in their checked luggage. Avoid being that person by educating yourself about the carry on luggage rules before you get to the airport. Also remember that the airline and TSA personnel are only doing their jobs; arguing with them won't get them to change their minds.

By simply taking a few steps to stay informed about current carry on luggage rules, you can ensure that your journey is safer, easier, and quicker.

From Oregon to DC: Bed and Breakfasts for the Booklover

By Jane Leisteiner

"The love of learning, the sequestered nooks, and all the sweet serenity of books," mused poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Indeed there is nothing more relaxing than escaping into a great adventure, romance or mystery; which is why so many of us pack a book or two on holiday. What better way to combine the relaxation of a vacation with the excitement of a good book. We found some very bookish bed and breakfasts, which are literally lovely.

The Alexander House Booklovers' Bed and Breakfast in Princess Anne on Maryland's Eastern Shore

Nestled between the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland's Eastern Shore, The Alexander House Booklovers' Bed and Breakfast offers both a charming seaside location, as well as plenty of literary ambiance. Guest rooms are named for famed authors, such as Jane Austen or Langston Hughes. Relax and enjoy a book in front of the fire in the Mark Twain Reading Room. The innkeepers have a myriad of volumes for guests to enjoy, ranging from every conceivable subject, including history, architecture, art, music and classic and contemporary fiction. The whimsically named village of Princess Anne appeals to the senses with its historic buildings and scenic beauty of the Manokin River, there's even a walking tour that leads past dozens of historic gems.

The Book & Blanket - Jay, New York

Literature is all around at the Book and Blanket, a historic inn located in the Adirondack Mountain town of Jay, New York. Each of the guest rooms is named for an author, such as the Jack London Room or the F. Scott Fitzgerald Room. A cozy nook is named for James Thurber, who wrote a short story while staying in the town. There is a library, of course, and guests are encouraged to read to the heart's content. Read on the front porch swing or curl up and relax in the privacy of your guest room.

Enjoy Books, History in Washington, D.C.

Located in the heart of one of DC's best neighborhoods, this four-story 1880 Victorian rowhouse offers a choice of eight guest-rooms; each uniquely decorated and tailored around African-American authors and classic genres. Rooms are tributes to Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, Toni Morrison and Walter Mosley. Sylvia Beach Hotel - Newport, Oregon

What could be more restful than reading a book in an library overlooking the sea? That's just what you'll find at Sylvia Beach Hotel. Curiously, the hotel is not named for a beach, but Sylvia Beach, a famous patron of literature. There is definitely a touch of whimsy here. Guest quarters are organized into three categories, Classics, Best Sellers and Novels. The Classics rooms include a fireplace and a deck overlooking the ocean. Each of the rooms is named for a different author, playwright or poet, from Dr. Seuss to Jane Austen to Oscar Wilde. The Table of Content Restaurant will leave you chuckling over the name while enjoying award-winning cuisine in an oceanfront dining room.

Savor the Classics at Concord's Hawthore Inn

The Hawthorne Inn, nestled in the heart of the literary town of Concord, pays homage to homegrown authors Ralph Waldo Emerson, Louisa May Alcott, Margaret Sydney, Henry David Thoreau and Hawthorne, all buried in the town's Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. The inn is an historic home on land once owned by Nathaniel Hawthorne; rooms are named Alcott, Emerson, Walden and Sleepy Hollow, and books can be found all over the inn. Nathaniel Hawthorne's actual home, "Wayside" is across the street, and next door is the "Orchard House," long-time home of Alcott, who penned Little Women, and later home to Margaret Sydney, who wrote The Five Little Peppers children's books. The nearby Emerson House is open for tours.

Tips on Finding Cheap Car Rentals

By Johnathan Bakers

Are you researching car rental rates and specials? There are a number of specials and gimmicks advertised on T.V. and the internet. The market is very competitive and some gimmicks are downright ridiculous. It?s best to find the lowest rate with the most perks. Here are some tips to searching for cheap car rentals from reputable companies.

What?s In a Name?

There are many nationwide car rental companies known in the travel industry such as Avis, Hertz and National. Some have names that imply they are less expensive than the others such as Payless, Dollar and Budget Rent A Car. These companies target a budget minded customer but they are not always the cheapest. Many times other car rental companies have the same or lower rates. It?s best to search all available car rental companies regardless of their marketing scheme.

Email Alerts

Many car rental companies reserve the best deals for customers who book directly through them. Visit the company?s website to view specials and virtual coupons. You should also sign up for email alerts. The rental company will send you an email when they have a special offer. They may also send you coupons that can save you money or entitle you to a free rental day or free upgrade.

Loyalty Programs

It?s also a good idea to sign up for a rental car company?s loyalty program, especially if you?ll be renting frequently in the future. Not only will you receive email alerts for promotions but you?ll also get special discounts that only loyalty program members are entitled. After you?ve rented a few times, you will receive perks on subsequent rentals such as free upgrades and free options such as GPS. You?ll also be able to take advantage of special lines for VIP customers for fast car pickup and drop off.

Small Car Rental Companies

The large rental chains have the most loyal customers and have a large number of locations and variety of vehicles but they don?t always offer the best rest. Many times small rental offices have better rates. You?ll have to weigh the price benefit with the other downsides. They usually aren?t located right at the airport, their car selection is poor and not guaranteed and their service can be lacking. Smaller companies also don?t usually have a loyalty program which may not matter if you don?t intend on renting frequently.

Also take a good look at the contract. Most of the large car rental chains include standard services such as roadside assistance with the rental price. If you?re renting from a small company then ask if they offer the service for a fee.

Whether you choose a large chain or small ?mom and pop? rental car company, carefully look over the contract and the estimated total price before signing. There are always hidden costs that you need to be aware of before driving away.

Key West Florida Beaches

By Mikey West

The Key West beaches are not exactly the best that Florida has to offer. No visitor to this state is going to mistake them for the beaches of Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach. The best beach in the Keys is 45 minutes away at Bahia Honda State Park Beach.

The beaches are tiny, the sand is not exactly fine, there are rocks everywhere, the slope is very slight, and the waves are non-existent. Despite these drawbacks, two of the Key West beaches should do. Smathers Beach or Fort Zachary Taylor Beach should be good enough.

The most-famous Key West beach is Smathers Beach, which is the biggest and the most-popular. It is the beach with the most sand. Frequently you have seaweed on the sand. There is great snorkeling in the clear ocean. If you go in the water, there is a rough coral reef footing. Along with the sand and sea, you get parking, some picnic tables, restrooms, showers and concession stands. You can sit on a rented beach chair and relax. Water sports equipment is available for sailing or windsurfing. If you want another type of ride, jump in a boat or attempt parasailing.

Fort Zachary Taylor Beach is not as well-known as Smathers Beach. If you search, you will find it within Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. This beach is bordered by pine trees and consists of rocks and sharp coral. If you want to picnic, you can take advantage of the grills, tables and refreshment stand. Restrooms and showers are there for your convenience. There are rentals of comfortable beach chairs, along with some snorkeling equipment and kayaks for the ocean lovers. You can take a quick little walk down the nature trail or you can observe the passing cruise ships.

Rest Beach is not as large as Smathers Beach and does not have as many activities for you. The sand quality is identical. This beach has a yoga deck and tables. The nearest restrooms are at neighboring Higgs Beach. The White Street Pier serves as the boundary between these two beaches. This wooden fishing pier is a long one and provides a good starting point for snorkeling.

Higgs Beach also is smaller than Smathers Beach. Across the street is Astro Park, which is a park for children. Higgs Beach has some picnic tables, some concessions, restrooms and a shower. You can rent beach chairs or snorkeling equipment. Fine dining is available at the restaurant located right there on the beach.

Dog Beach is rocky rather than sandy, but the dogs allowed there do not seem to mind in the least. They enjoy the beach and the ocean. This is a fabulous beach if you happen to have a dog along with you. If not, go elsewhere.

In addition to the above, there are two more public beaches. The larger one is South Beach. For the most part it is used only by the local residents, since there are no facilities there. If you do go, it is best to walk. Simonton Street Beach is a very small beach with room for few.

A Guide To Fly Fishing

By Harry Smith

For many centuries the method called "fly fishing" has been a popular method, of catching fish, employed by anglers worldwide. Today the sport continues to grow in popularity globally with numerous fly fishing resorts in Europe (Scotland, Norway etc) and the USA (Alaska, Colorado etc.). The sports popularity expands due, in part, to the unique skills required and incredible challenges offered in order to catch a fish.

Probably the most important piece of equipment used by the angler when fly fishing is the fly (which is why it is called fly fishing of course!). The fly is a small lure which is created using various fly patterns, many of which have been used extensively for many, many years as they still prove as effective, at catching fish, today as they were when first designed.

The design of the fly pattern proves so effective as the creator made it to appear to the fish as though it was it's natural food. The shape also helps the fly to move in such a way as it further enhances the lures natural appearance to the fish.

As well as the fly pattern other fly fishing equipment has been specifically designed and perfected to further enhance the movement of the fly. All of the equipment, rod, reel, line and fly, work together and should be finely balanced in order to catch fish successfully.

It is of immense importance that all fly fishing equipment remains light in weight while also being extremely strong (in order to be able to land the large fish such as Atlantic salmon). Fly fishing rods can be purchased in various sizes from between seven and nine foot in length. The fly fishing rod should also be flexible enough to ensure that you can cast great distances with minimal effort.

Besides the fly fishing equipment essentials there are a great many fly fishing accessories available to the modern angler. High on the shopping list of many is a decent set of waders which can be purchased relatively cheaply nowadays. However spending a little more will equip you with the latest breathable waders made out of modern lightweight materials perfect for the angler who wants to remain cool and dry at all times. Of course there are many, many more fishing accessories available but few are really essential and should be considered a luxury.

Taking up fly fishing is rather easy as once you have your basic fly fishing equipment you can upgrade as your budget allows. You can start with a cheap fly fishing kit which can be obtained online or offline (from most sports retailers). Before you take to the waters I would advise that you take a short course or, at the least, a couple of lessons and many places offer the ability to hire equipment which can further reduce your initial outlay.

Once you have a taste for the sport of fly fishing it is highly likely that you will continue to enjoy every opportunity to go fishing that life affords you. So addictive is the sport that many are willing to travel around the globe to experience the thrills and excitement of fishing in one of the famous fly fishing resorts such as the famous salmon runs/rivers in Scotland (while those who live in Scotland often look to Alaska and the likes as their dream fly fishing vacation destination).

Whether you indulge in the sport at a local stream, small river or lake you can be sure that a days fishing will be thoroughly enjoyed. Even when the fish aren't biting so much a group of folk fishing will, most likely, produce a couple of fish with the aid of a fly. Even if you fail to catch a fish yourself you will still gain a great deal of enjoyment.

Guide to Oceania Discount Cruises

By Martha Vasquez

Do you enjoy cruising and are looking for a different vacation experience? Have you already visited Alaska, the Greek Isles, and Mexico? Are you looking for a bright summer vacation in the middle of a cold winter? It is time to experience a new area of the planet, it is time to visit Oceania. Do not be afraid of an exotic vacation costing more than you can afford. You will be able to find discount cruises to Oceania.

Oceania is the section of the earth around the South Pacific islands and Australia. These are the areas of the world commonly known as Micronesia and Polynesia. Cruises in the Oceania region are becoming popular and considered a luxury cruise on a moderate budget. Because cruises to many of the islands in Oceania are not as popular or well known, the prices for these cruises are more moderate than some of the Caribbean island cruises.

The cruise ships used for Oceania cruises are usually smaller than the average ship used for other cruises. The ships still contain all the amenities you have come to expect from other cruise vacations but on a slightly smaller scale. A smaller ship also means less people but usually the same amount of crew. So if large crowds bother you consider giving cruising one more try with a cruise to Oceania. Less vacationers means the crew will be able to pay more attention to you and your needs.

Because of the changes in seasons between the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere, the prime cruising period for Oceania is from September to February. Oceania will be in the middle of summer during this time and quite reasonable in temperature. Imagine a Christmas holiday cruise to Australia where the sun is shining instead of shoveling snow in your driveway.

Finding a discount cruise to Oceania is easy. First, you can choose to travel during an off-peak time. During off-peak travel, ships offer great discount cruise to travelers because there is reduced demand for travel. Also, you can find great discounts if you are able to travel on one or two days notice. New Zealand Travel Insurance Importance

By Roc Selly

Those who live in New Zealand refer to it as God's Own as a tribute to its beauty. Another popular name for New Zealand is the Maori word 'Aotearoa' meaning 'land of the long white cloud' and with its generally temperate and damp climate and mostly mountainous landscape, this is not surprising. Sitting 990 miles southeast of Australia, this wonderfully diverse and breathtakingly scenic country is a cluster of islands in the South Pacific, the largest two being the North and South Islands which stretch the combined distance of 1600km. The weather is usually a hot topic of conversation as it plays a huge part in the livelihood of this farming nation. New Zealand is the world's biggest exporter of meat, wool, cheese and butter.

The Maori culture has left in its wake a nation filled with Maori descendants who hold dear the teachings of their elders and an authentic Maori encounter can be had virtually anywhere in New Zealand, a rare opportunity to experience the prayer, language, dance, legends, trades and food of the Maori.

New Zealand is home to bungee jumping entrepreneur A J Hackett, and has nurtured a host of activities to satisfy adrenaline junkies from coast to coast including some of the more recent inventions such as Fly by Wire and Base Jumping. For these sports you need a company that can offer you New Zealand Travel Insurance that covers adrenaline sports in its policy - this is not always an easy task as adrenaline sports are high risk and if involved in an accident, the costs that occur can reach well into the millions if the victim involved faces high medical costs, rehabilitation and possibly even the necessity to be flown home (repatriation). Travelers from around the world fly immense distances to visit this easternmost country (the first country to see in the new-year and the first hour of every day) in search of a real Kiwi experience. It is definitely a necessity for any travelers visiting New Zealand to acquire New Zealand Travel Insurance but not for reasons one would normally expect.

A common nickname for a New Zealander is 'Kiwi'. This is taken from a nocturnal bird indigenous to the islands, one of a list of many that call New Zealand home. For the avid birdwatcher, the diversity of the cold South Island and hotter North Island both make New Zealand a popular destination and there are hardly any predators capable of depleting its masses of birdlife. However, to spot some of the less sighted New Zealand birds, a little exploring and orienteering is required. Again, New Zealand Travel Insurance a wise idea for your peace of mind.

North Island contains hot springs and geysers and South Island is mostly mountainous with glaciers and eastern lowlands. Be amazed by the beauty of the forests and farmlands and the rivers and unlimited access to the ocean. Be thrilled by the ongoing activities from fishing and camping to rock climbing and sky diving. New Zealand is a playground for adventurers and the more mellow family vacationers. It is important to get good New Zealand Travel Insurance that will cover adventure sports which is not only ideal for active travelers but also for families going on fishing charters or even just kayaking around the bays. It is a country that takes at least three hours' flying time to reach and in some cases, almost 24 hours. When holidaying or on business so far from home, it's a comfort to know that someone is watching your back in case any problems should arise.

New Zealand people are very hospitable and have a true sense of understated pride in their country which they are eager to share with visitors. For anyone wanting to see the world, this country should be in your top five!

Ecotourism: Is It Good For The Young?

By John Bakers

For many who have an eye firmly on the future, children, ecotourism and personal growth go hand in hand. As families choose a travel destination, whether it is in the more traditional field of recreation tourism or in the growing industry of ecotourism, the adults make choices with the welfare of children in mind.

Of course, how much effect a travel choice has on child development is still a matter of opinion, but not too many people would argue that quality travel choices and environmental education do children a lot of good. When parents, medical personnel and child psychologists discuss personal growth, they often have an image of a new style of "pop" psychology. In response, a segment of the population will look on this concept with derision, even sneering at the idea of guiding the personal growth of a child.

Those who react negatively often cite limited research and suspect information as reasons for dismissing the "pop" psychology movement. Many see this trend as just another way to make money through the sale of books, CDs and other products.

There is certainly some benefit to this psychology, however limited. But there will also be a consistent cloud of doubt as to the legitimacy of such "movements" because of the commercialization inherent in a capitalist society. Ecotourism as a positive influence on child development may be a bit different, however. This new concept in world travel is founded on solid principles that focus on the environment and the preservation of natural resources.

The value system that is at the core of this idea can be a positive influence on all age groups, not just the young. But passing these values on to succeeding generations may indeed be the key factor in the success of ecotourism and the preservation of a fragile environment. Dedication to the cause of preservation can have a long-lasting impact on the way our younger generations view social activity and economic success.

Putting "children" and "ecotourism" together as a concept may be uncomfortable for some. To some ears, it may be an odd mix of words. When most people think of ecotourism, the image is one of progressive adults who are more than average in their sensitivity to environmental issues. Ecotourism, to most, is the combination of progressive beliefs and time away from work.

But for others, this description is much too limited. Ecotourism is not all play or all work. It is, indeed, a great opportunity for education and personal growth. This growth should not be limited to adults, according to proponents of ecotourism, who see this concept as a way to invest in the future of our children. Within the growing ecotourism movement, some have been confronted with the term "children ecotourism gambit," voiced by sceptics who see the inclusion of children as a tool to get more attention (and money) for the industry.

Sincere proponents of ecotourism, however, see that this new field can help instil values in our children that will lead to serious involvement in environmental and social issues in the future. Activities that combine children and ecotourism can be fun and educational in the present, while building a foundation for responsible travel and tourism in the future. This is true from rain forests in the Amazon to the Gran Hotel Bali in benidorm

Are You Looking For the Best Asian Rides?A

By Clinton Maxwell

If you are searching for a good tourist destination to travel to this summer then one place you are likely to have overlooked is Asia. Taking up a quarter of the Earth, Asia is a beautiful and exotic location which has something to suit everyone, no matter what their tastes.

The Best Asian Places to Visit

There are a number of places in Asia which seem to be more popular than others. So when you are planning your Asian journey some of the best locations to visit include:

Vietnam Indonesia Thailand Malaysia Philippines

Vietnam has two main hotspots that are not to be missed and they include Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. They are both modernized and they provide everything you could possibly need to have a great vacation. However you will need to have a tourist visa before you can actually get into Vietnam and the mosquitoes there can be particularly annoying so it is always best to carry some repellent around with you.

Thailand is another extremely popular Asian place which thousands of tourists flock to each year. What you may not know about the people in Thailand is that they are actually quite religious. They believe that the head is the highest part of the body and so you should never touch anybody's head whilst you are there. You should also not make fun of the king whose pictures are situated around Thailand and also never point at anything with your foot. If you remember these small things then you should enjoy your stay.

Malaysia is all about culture and you will see various food stands situated around the place selling local delicacies. It is definitely advised that you taste these delicacies when you can. Another tip when you are travelling to Malaysia is to wear really cool clothing. The people of Malaysia are religious and you will notice that there are a number of different religious buildings situated around the place.

Finally Indonesia is a fascinating place to visit, though there are some very important rules you need to remember. I found a cheap flights from Malaga last year and took the entire family. Anything with Chinese writing on is banned in Bali. So if you have a tattoo with Chinese writing on then it is advisable to ensure that it is covered up at all times or simply do not go to Bali!

Overall Asia is a fascinating country to visit. With so many fascinating places to explore and so many great rides to experience, you would be mad to not even at least consider going to Asia on your next vacation. I found a cheap flights from Malaga last year and took the entire family.

UK Hotel Breaks

By Watson J Phillips

What do you do when you have a spare few days off work. Do you stay at home or do you take advantage of one of the many cheap flights available with the low cost airlines and head off for a quick hotel break.

Nowadays there are more and more places to visit and from more and more airports around the UK and Ireland. Previously unpopular or uneconomical airports have now expanded with the arrival of flights on cheap airline flights from airports all over Europe

Your choice of places to fly to has increased to a level never seen before and you can easily jet off by booking a cheap flight and accommodation online and fly off on a cheap weekend

But going away overseas does have its disadvantages especially if you are short of time. Not all the flights are suitable for an overnight trip in a foreign city. Some flights leave in the early afternoon and by the time you get there and get into the city centre it could be into the early part of the evening. Usually if you leave in the afternoon the return flight is more than likely to be a mid morning one, leaving you just one evening away at your destination. Even if you do stay longer you still lose a large proportion of your trip travelling.

A lot of people overlook the possibility of having a short break in the UK possibly because of the weather or because it does not sound as impressive to your friends as saying you flew off for the weekend.

You can get lots of flights within the UK and Ireland to some really interesting locations and with a greater number of flights you can leave at an earlier time and return on a later flight giving you more time away and not in the airport.

There is a fantastic choice of quality destinations in the UK and Ireland that can offer it's own unique experience for the visitor. Some of the destinations include Edinburgh, Dublin, London, Cardiff, Belfast, Manchester and many more.

Spend more time enjoying your break than sitting in the airport waiting for your flight. Avoid the massive queues to get past security at the airport. You don't have to fly you could drive or book a rail package and get the benefit of a cheap rail ticket and hotel package on a rail break. There are some great hotel breaks such as a murder mystery or a spa break or even to a concert to see your favourite band.

Understanding Travel Insurance Coverage

By Amy Nutt

Before you head out on that big trip, do you need to purchase travel insurance? What is travel insurance anyway? Is it a wise investment, or a waste of money? Understanding travel insurance before you book your next trip will help you make a wise decision as to whether or not to purchase this insurance product.

Two Main Coverage Options

Travel insurance products vary quite a bit from policy to policy. For this reason, you need to carefully read the policy you are considering buying. However, there are two main types of coverage that you will almost always see as part of a travel insurance plan. These are trip cancellation or interruption coverage and emergency medical evacuation coverage.

Trip cancellation or interruption coverage will pay all or a portion of the cost of your trip if it is cancelled or cut short due to unforeseen circumstances. For instance, if you end up in the hospital before your trip, you may be able to get your deposit back. However, you should know that not all reasons for cancellation are covered. If you decide that you do not want to go at the last minute, you will not get your money back. The interruption part of this coverage will cover the loss you may have if the cruise line or tour company canceled your trip. If, for instance, you have to head home early due to bad weather while you are on your cruise, you may be able to get reimbursed for a portion of your trip's cost.

Emergency evacuation coverage is great for those who are traveling out of the country. If you need to be medically evacuated from your destination country, you will not have to pay for the evacuation or your trip back to America if you have this coverage. This is important coverage for those who are traveling in areas where there is not going to be access to good medical care.

Other Coverage Options to Consider

While these two coverage options are almost always included in a travel insurance policy, there are other options available. Those who are traveling overseas often purchase travel health insurance. This covers the cost of medical care that you may need while traveling out of the country. However, before you purchase this, make sure you do not already have similar coverage through your existing health insurance provider.

Some travel insurance policies also include a lost or stolen baggage clause. This will pay the approximate cost of replacing any lost or stolen luggage or other belongings that you have. Whether the airline loses your baggage or someone steals it while you are on your trip, it will be covered.

Catches to Watch For

There are some catches to watch for when shopping for travel insurance. First, look for the various exceptions and exemptions on the policy. For instance, if you are purchasing interruption coverage, you may find that you will only be reimbursed after you have tried all that you can try to get a reimbursement from the cruise line or tour company or if the company declares bankruptcy. Also, check your other insurance policies, such as your health insurance and home owner's insurance, to make sure that you are not purchasing coverage that you already own.

Understanding what travel insurance actually covers is important when you are making a decision about purchasing it. It is not a perfect solution that will repay you for the cost of your trip under any circumstances. Most policies have specific circumstances under which they will pay, and other circumstances that are excluded from the policy. Read the policy carefully, consider your individual needs, and decide whether or not the cost of travel insurance is worth the protection it provides.

Find Out More about Life, and Useful Tips Online

By Leroy Calstard

Eco-tourism started in the 1980's, but is gaining popularity. When it comes to ecotourism, you will find that it can be appealing to those who genuinely care for the earth and people who have become social consciousness about the changes that are occurring to the beauty of the earth as well. You will find that it is very important that you learn how to focus your time on some of your local culture and the preservation of the local wilderness and human surroundings. You will also find that ecotourism happens to be the responsible tourism and it is something that is fairly new to the concept of time. It was developed in the 1980's, but today have hundreds of followers who care and are concerned for the earth locally, and for areas that they have visited abroad.

As for the history of ecotourism, you will find that it has always been around clear back to the age of Charles Darwin. You will find that there are many figures in the past who has brought their local ecological status to the eyes of others, but it happens to be the way that you conserve your natural resources and prevent the normal wear and tear of carelessness. You will also find when it comes to the present day definition of eco-tourist, you will be able t o find that it is a growing concept and that more and more people feel it as their civil duty to care for the future of their area and the future of the earth in general.

As a fast growing concept, you will find that it is the growing awareness of need for natural resources in the future that has made many people think about how they can live off of the earth, without harming the earth. There are also more and more people wanting to take the time to explore areas of the world that they are not familiar with intentions of helping the economy and the people and animals that sustain in the area. It is more than just traveling, but it is a way that you can help people, animals, and plants learn to grow in each other's worlds.

For those who do not know, you will find that eco-tourism is the first major step into realizing that we have a problem and we need to figure out how to promote awareness. You will also need to think about the fact that there are government groups getting involved to help ecotourism and put the beauty back into the run down areas of the world. This spans the world from the US, Europe and even Benidorm, Spain.

You will also find that ecotourism happens to be the responsible tourism and it is something that is fairly new to the concept of time. It was developed in the 1980's, but today have hundreds of followers who care and are concerned for the earth locally, and for areas that they have visited abroad.

A Look at Orlando Vacation

By Sammy Maseko

When you think of a Orlando vacation, you are probably aware that Orlando is the city of theme parks, but this beautiful city has much more to offer the visitor than just thrilling rides. It is also full of lakes, parks, exhibitions, historical places, markets, shops and much more. Whilst Orlando vacations have been popular for many years now, the number of reasons to visit continues to grow as the number of facilities and attractions increases.

Orlando really is one of the visitor friendly cities in the world and you can really enjoy yourself at Church Street Station, a multi-level shopping and amusement center, featuring a large quantity of specialty shops, eating places, clubs and bars. With so many places to visit and things to see, the information provided here cannot even brush the surface but will give an insight into some of the not so well publicized attractions.

The Central Florida Zoo for instance only opened back in 1975 and was owned by the Sanford Fire Department prior to that but is the home to over four hundred animals and is well worth a visit. The Central Florida Zoological Park and Botanical Gardens is dedicated to preserving the beauty and wonder of animals and their habitats and committed to sharing their knowledge, engaging visitors, and celebrating the natural world.

Then there are the works of Louis Tiffany whose famous collection is housed here in the Morse Museum of American Art. The famous chapel interior commissioned for the World's Columbian Exhibition back in 1893 is also her along with many Tiffany jewelry, art and leaded glass, ornaments and clayware.

Vibrant Night life is also popular when you have your Orlando vacation with music and dance available at some of the favorite venues which include Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island, Universal Citywalk, and other clubs. Surprisingly, Orlando is not just about fun for the children and adults are very well catered for in this entertainment town.

If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions ranging from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. If your preference is in railways then the International Trolley and Train Museum on International drive will be a pleasant surprise with 14 trains running continuously and a mountain range with three waterfalls in a space of about 4,000 square feet.

On International Drive there is the Mercado Center which is undergoing some extensive rebuilding work but is still home to the wonderfully moving, sad and at times eerie Titanic exhibition which actually displays a number of original items from the great ship. Away from all the hustle that Orlando has in abundance is the wonderful Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown has beautiful sidewalks in over forty acres and it is possible to spend a peaceful few hours here.

Now you couldn't possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and of course not to forget the fantastic Seaworld. Orlando has enough tourist attraction to last a year but the next time you visit, why not try one or two of the others less well known but just as impressive places.

Get Rid of Your Timeshare in 1 Week

By Willie Bird

If you felt pressured when you purchased your timeshare, it's likely that you will want to get rid of your timeshare. You may also want to make your money back. There are many reasons why you may not get to enjoy your weeks as often as you want.

It is consequently a high priority to receive fairly on the investment made by you. Reselling timeshare itself is a marketplace. How appropriately do you approach to trade your own timeshare?

If you've done any research on the subject of timeshare resales you have no doubt come across a company that will do it for you. At least, they claim that they will do it for you. While there are some reputable companies out there that will do it, beware of scams. One way to tell if the company is a scam is if they ask you for any upfront fees to sell your timeshare.

Companies make money to get rid of your timeshare, but you have to watch out for some of them. Some companies will ask for "appraisal fee" or a "processing fee" and say they have a number of buyers lined up for the property. Whatever you do, do not give these companies your money. Instead do a little research and find a company that isn't going to ask for money upfront.

It is time to set the asking price once you have decided on how you are going to sell (yourself or by someone else). Determining the right asking price could be tricky. You may or may not sell it for as much as you have invested.

If you bought a time share from the developer, you likely paid full price. The resale of the timeshare will likely be much lower than what you paid - even up to one third the original purchase price. The reluctance of new buyers to pay full price after maintenance fees is among several factors that reduce how much they are willing to pay.

First of all, you might have overpaid for it in the first place. If you took whatever the initial asking price was, then you paid much more than you should have. Another reason is that you can't duplicate the high pressure sales presentation that the developer can. You can't really afford to bring hundreds of people in for "free vacations" or employ salespeople.

When you decide to sell a timeshare, you will find that the actual price of the resale is usually less than what you paid for it. You should check out eBay or Craigslist, for example, for comparable sales prices. Then decide how much the resale value is and list your own.

Once you decide, there are a number of places you can list it. There are many active websites that list timeshares for sale around the world. These are good and you might try an e-Bay auction as well.

The greater your adaptability the better, regardless of the process you use in your attempt. Experiment with a variety of rewards unitl you discover what's effective. Keep in mind that timeshare properties are sold daily and your property may be one of them, regardless of how you do it.

Ecotourism Society Leads Tourist Field

By Greg Hansward

With any worldwide effort, no matter the field or industry, some formal organizing entity must be in place. Without this, an idea such as ecotourism becomes a dizzying number of activities aimed at the general tourist population. What is needed to give this mass of activity a core is a central source of information and guidance.

For the relatively new field of ecotourism, the International Ecotourism Society seems to be that core entity. Generally, when people encounter the name of a governing organization such as this, they may react negatively. Many feel that such action as environmental advocacy should be left to conscientious individuals and loosely organized local populations.

For many this is an admirable goal that may not function well in reality. So those who are cynical about the International Ecotourism Society or any other governing body should look more closely at the vision of these dedicated individuals.

For this worldwide organization, cynicism may be misplaced. Most who carry a working knowledge of ecotourism see that the group has accomplished a great deal of good since the ecotourism movement was born about 25 years ago. Foremost among these accomplishments was raising the level of awareness among the general public with informative programs. Before the establishment of a governing body such as the International Ecotourism Society, the field of ecotourism was not among topics discussed by the working folks around the globe. I've even seen information brochures at several Benidorm hotels in which I've stayed. Now, however, more and more people who may have taken traditional pleasure trips in the past are setting luxury resorts aside in favor of ecotourism activity. Beyond this, the society has added a whole new sector of fun and relaxation to the list of holiday/vacation choices.

The basic question here might be: Just what is the International Ecotourism Society? The mission of this group is to promote travel to locations around the world in a way that promotes conservation of natural resources and preserves the unique cultures of local populations. Some may feel that this is not such a lofty goal, because they believe that travel for enjoyment does not really harm the environment to a significant degree. But the fact is that irresponsible tours and travel do damage the environment and do negatively impact wildlife. Exploitive hunting in Africa has reduced wildlife populations to alarming levels, often in violation of local laws.

The International Ecotourism Society attempts to provide a balance to these practices by encouraging more responsible travel and vacation activity with less impact on natural resources. In fact, a growing number of informed citizens realize that this group provides a service of immeasurable value, because it has raised awareness of the critical issues surrounding world travel.

Interested citizens are encouraged to contact the International Ecotourism Society through the Web site. http://www.ecotourism.org. This Web site provides further contact information and includes a great deal of information about the ecotourism movement and what it means to the world's animal and plant life.

Visitors to the International Ecotourism Society Web site are finding a comprehensive site that contains some exciting and even eye-opening facts about the environment and the impact travel can have. A visit to the site may be just what some people need to be persuaded that ecotourism is a great idea whose time has come.

Tips for Buying Travel Insurance and Protecting Your Vacation

By Landon McGehee

There are benefits and limitations to using a credit card to book a trip.

Buying a cruise ticket or a plane ticket isn't like making another purchase. If you buy groceries or shoes, you can pay the bill completely and walk away with your purchase in hand. You put down a deposit if you buy a car or a house. You don't pay the entire amount until you move or you drive away.

Credit cards work differently when you travel, however. If you need to make a reservation for a flight or a cruise, you pay in full and well in advance. If the carrier goes out of business before you travel, you may find yourself with little recourse against the carrier. You may not have any rights to try to collect your money.

Many travel professionals will warn their clients that there are few guarantees of getting clients what they want, where you want to go, and how you are going to get there. There are five steps that travelers can take to try to get their money back if the carrier goes out of business.

Step 1: Know Your Rights You don't have many rights when it comes to dealing with the airlines and cruise lines. You are at the carrier's mercy if your flight or cruise is delayed, canceled, or rerouted.

You may qualify for "denied-boarding compensation? if you are bumped from a flight. This means you may be eligible for a nominal cash payment, which is limited to $200 for domestic flights. You don't necessarily qualify for any money if your carrier goes out of business.

Step 2: Charge It Using a credit card can give you a federally guaranteed insurance policy if your carrier goes out of business. Additionally, using a credit card might be your only way to seek reimbursement.

The Fair Credit Billing Act gives people a way to appeal a charge that they made for a product that was never received. You can file for a refund if you paid for a trip on a credit card and the carrier went out of business. This appeal is only active for 60 days after you make the charge.

It's very risk to pay in advance with a check or cash. The Fair Credit Billing Act does not cover cash or checks and your options for getting your money back after the carrier goes out of business are much more limited.

Step 3: Wait If It's Possible Travelers usually receive encouragement to make their reservations early. For those who want to take a long trip or travel during peak seasons, booking in advance is the only way to get the dates and prices they want.

The problem with booking so far in advance is that, as we've mentioned before, the Fair Credit Billing Act has a short time period. You will need to file a written complaint within 60 days after you paid for the travel if your carrier goes out of business before you travel. If the ticket was paid for months ago and you've already paid the bill, you can't use the protections offered in the Fair Credit Billing Act.

Step 4: Compare the Carriers Available to You Airlines in the United States can establish their own policies about delays and cancellations. You can find each policy in the airline's "contract of carriage"; this is the contract between passengers and the airlines, and is available on each airline's contract. Some travelers carry a copy of the contract when they fly. This can enable them to become "experts" on the airline's obligations if there is a problem.

Cruise lines and similar carriers have similar contracts.

Step 5: Consider Paying for Travel Insurance A travel insurance policy can help you recover money that you've lost on a trip that was canceled when the carrier went out of business. Be careful to get a good policy, however, and not one that will only give you additional expenses and problems.

The best and most affordable coverage usually comes from independent travel insurers. Consumers who buy policies from the carrier may think they are covered when they actually weren't.

Travel insurance policies also can cover a range of problems. Those problems include medical emergencies, bankruptcies on the part of the carrier, and terrorist attacks. You should pay close attention to the coverage you buy. You should make sure that you read the fine print for any insurance policy that you buy. Here are some tips for evaluating your insurance even when buying with a rewards card:

* Compare the different policies and insurers available to you. You may want to look at websites that include insuremytrip.com and quotewright.com.

* Buy your policy through an independent insurer and not the carrier.

* Act quickly. You must buy many types of policies within weeks or even days of buying your tickets.

* Think about buying trip cancellation insurance if you are buying or putting a deposit for a trip many months in advance. This is especially true if your ticket is non-refundable. Doing this will give you coverage even after the 60 day limitation under the Fair Credit Billing Act has passed.

* Make sure that your carrier is covered by your insurance policy. Some policies limit the carriers they will cover. Also make sure that your policy covers "financial default? on the part of the carrier.

Try Alaska Tours and Recommend to Friends

By Johnathan Bakers

Unspoiled wilderness makes for a vacation with an unpredictable air to it. In Alaska, and not at the beach, is where a pristine landscape can make for an awe-inspiring outing. The fauna, glaciers and freshwater fishing all appeal to the inner adventurer and is why Alaska has so many visitors every year. In addition to the sights, Alaska's outdoor sports are challenging and varied. For fun in the sun, go to a tropical region. But for non-stop action and risk-taking adventure, get a reasonable adventure travel package.

Maybe the greatest aspect of Alaska outdoor adventure travel is that there are different intensities with which a traveler can explore the state. If you are more interested in a relaxing time and not so rigorous one then there are less physical tours you can go on. Many would probably recommend that you charter a day sight-seeing tour. This can be done by flying or boating and you can get to see native marine life like caribou, whales, and polar bears. It is even possible to go to a gold mining ghost town or lay eyes on awe-inspiring glaciers after a day's worth of backpack hiking.

Alaska outdoor adventure travel even provides for a twist on conventional rock climbing. Ice climbing on glaciers or hiking to snow-capped mountains in Denali National Park are not just seasonal activities in Alaska. Camping, kayaking and rafting are just as prevalent. Snowmobiles or ATVs are great ways to break away from the stationary and see as much of Alaska at one time as possible.

Most travelers opt to take a cruise to Alaska on their first time discovering the near barren and full-of-life locations within the region. A cruise allows for those who only want to look do so, while those who want to get nearer to Alaska's harsh environment can do so as well. One traveler might rather go fishing for salmon while another will take advantage of the guided excursion through an abandoned gold mining town instead.

Do what you want as opposed to going along with the group is the appeal of Alaska adventure travel. Since so many people will probably be traveling at once on a tour, it is important to manage you own schedule as everyone might have distinct tastes as far as what they would like to do. You may want to only do a little photo taking or you may want to participate in some sporting activities. It may even be that you want to do both. But you have to plan you own schedule in order to get the most satisfying results.

If you hail from a normally warm climate, a trip to Alaska could be a shock to your system, especially if you have never been on an adventure travel tour before. Therefore, perhaps it is best to take a cruise that leaves from a port in your town or you nearest dock. The alternative is that you will have to fly to Alaska and do pay for car rental and a place to stay while you visit. With a cruise, all of that is covered by the cost.

Outdoor adventure travel plans to go t Alaska can be organized by a traveler by himself or she/he can enlist the assistance of a travel agent. They will have access to more resources and more inside industry information than an one traveler. Plus, when the unexpected happens a travel agent can more sufficiently manage issues such as a late flight or unrecorded reservations at your place of lodging. Do not go it alone if you believe that better deals and service awaits you through the help of a travel agent.

Looking Into The Boat Care Business

By Georgie T Branks

In the USA boating, whether it is sailboats, fishing boats, yachts or general leisure boats, is a massive industry. It doesn'y matter what kind of boat you have but all owners have something in common. At some point in time they will consider taking care of their boat in one aspect or another. Boat care is a big industry within the boating world.

Boat owners will tell you that they love to keep their pride looking ship shape however what does the term 'boat care' incorporate. Well it can be anything from washing down the hull to filling in major cracks. Let's get one thing straight - it's nearly as important as knowing how to navigate!

If proper boat care and maintenance is not maintained, the boat could fall into disrepair which could prove disastrous if you are stuck in the middle of the ocean.

Let's start our journey by discussing boat waxes and cleaners that you can get from your retailer today. First and foremost it's important to choose the best cleaner for your boat type and the storage conditions it will be kept under. You will require different products if you own a saltwater boat to a freshwater boat

This will enable your boat to be more easily ready for use when the time is right to take the boat out again.

Boat Care Products.

You, as a consumer, must do some level of research in order to obtain the best product for your boat as there are many available. Obtaining a decent soap is the primary concern for you.

If you choose a decent soap you can expect it to remove dirt residue without taking the protective wax coating off your craft.

The one product that you should always have in your cleaning toolkit is apray cleaner. The surface of the boat collects all manner of particles and dirt such as fish blood, bird droppings and everyday grease.

Leaving those filthy remains on the boat could damage your boat in the long run. Another must have for proper boat care is a good finishing wax. The wax not only restores the boat's shine and color, but the wax also helps to protect the boat from the elements.

Because each type of boat is subject to different elements that require cleaning off, (freashwater boats attract algea and mould, saltwater boats attract salt corrosion), you must research the products that address your boat type first.

Essential Vacation Planning Beyond Checking the Climate

By Linden Walhard

Adventure travel insurance should certainly be on your list of essential pre-vacation needs. Vacation planning entails a lot more than simply checking the local climate or packing your luggage. Purchasing adventure travel insurance is an excellent decision for any adventure travel vacation. You can also find insurance that covers a specific activity you anticipate trying.

For instance, if you are looking forward to an adventure trip including backpacking, you can find travel insurance to cover that particular activity and provide you with the protection you need while enjoying the exploration experience. The same goes for other activities including, but surely not limited to, snowboarding, kayaking, skiing or so many other water sports or winter sports.

Location and budget are two additional factors to consider when finding and purchasing adventure travel insurance. Someone snowboarding and skiing in the United Kingdom may want to choose adventure travel insurance that covers the areas of the United Kingdom, Northern Island and the Channel Islands. You should then indicate whether you want a policy lasting for only a short period of time or an annual policy, all of which obviously depends on your travel habits. When traveling to the United Kingdom, there are two levels of insurance from which you can choose depending on your needs and budget. You may also want to check the weather forecast for any additional insurance you may need.

Adventure travel insurance is, basically, essential when visiting the different countries of Asia. If you plan to enjoy parachuting or trekking through the mountain ranges of Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia, among others, it is very important that you purchase an adventure travel insurance policy. Without such a policy, you may find yourself dealing with the local health force and ruining what should have been a fantastic experience.

Actually, your adventure travel insurance policy can cover you even for activities in the United States that involve increased risk and are not covered by traditional travel insurance. Often, American insurance companies request that you list the sports and activities you would like covered by your adventure travel insurance policy and provide a quote based on that information.

Companies offering adventure travel insurance packages care will handle your overseas travel wherever you decide to go. They will also include over one hundred different sports and activities, such as skiing, backpacking, bungee jumping and any other adrenalin-pumping activity. This was useful for my recent trip to alicante, where the weather was beautiful.

Some adventure sports are relatively dangerous and realistically quite risky. However, it has been determined that adventure travel insurance companies oftentimes pay for more incidents occurring in hotel rooms rather than in the outdoors where the sporting activities occur. You never know when an injury can occur so having a solid adventure travel insurance plan is useful to ensure you are covered whenever such coverage is required.

Holidays to Cuba. Things to Do.

By Jose Mauricio Maurette

Planning a Cuban holiday? Well, out of all the Caribbean Islands, Cuba is definitely one with more to offer than just a beach holiday. The people are bright, self-assertive and handsome. Their cultural heritage is colourful, as are the monuments of their often tumultuous, always fascinating history. A holiday to Cuba is something you should really consider in your agenda.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

The country has evolved with a strong personality from its experience from Spanish colonization, slavery, civil war, invasion, revolution and relentless economic embargo. Havana the islands proud capital is energetically restoring the buildings of its elegant historic quarters and the grand old cities of Santiago de Cuba and Trinidad still recall their 16th century beginnings.

The island extends some 1,300 km (over 800 miles) in length. At its widest point, it measures about 200 km (124 miles), and at its narrowest, just 5 km (22 miles) across. Cuba comprises an archipelago of around 1 ,600 isles and cayos (cays), the largest being the Isla de Ia Juventud (Isle of Youth) south of Bataban Bay. Sheltered by long coral reefs, the coastal beaches face the Bahamas and Atlantic Ocean to the northeast, Jamaica and the Caribbean Sea to the south.

Cuba's heartland stretches from the sugar and coffee plantations around the Guamuhaya (or Escambray) mountains of Cienfuegos to the cattle pastures of the Camaguey plains. As the region that has traditionally separated the poor peasants of the Oriente from the wealthy land-owners around Havana in the west, it has played a significant role in Cuban history. It has witnessed the early Spanish settlers' fleeting dreams of gold in Trinidad, the first serious campaigns for independence led by the sugar-planters and Camaguey cattle barons, and, in modern times, Che Guevara's decisive defeat of Batista's troops at Santa Clara in 1958, followed three years later by the debacle of the Cuban exiles' Bay of Pigs invasion. And the Ancn peninsula offers the best beaches on Cuba's south coast.

The Flora numbers no less than 8.1(00 varieties, Dense sub-tropical forest cover the humid lower mountain slopes, providing valuable timber products. Woods on the higher, drier slopes are principally pine and eucalyptus. The island boasts an astonishing assortment of palm trees, the best known being the royal palm, indigenous to Cuba.

The list of places to visit and things to do goes on and on. Hundreds of beautiful beach and city locations can not be put in just one article. Stay tune to this article directory as there will be more useful information about Cuba coming soon.

Cuban Holidays. Facts and places to see.

By Jose Mauricio Maurette

Planning a Cuban holiday? Excellent, this is one island in the Caribbean where you will want to do more than just a beach holiday. The people are bright, self-assertive and handsome. The heritage of Cuba is so rich as are the monuments and palaces throughout the country. A Cuban Holiday is without a doubt one to consider.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

According to official census figures, 70 per cent of Cubans are white, 12 per cent black, most of them in Oriental provinces, and 17 per cent mixed (mestizo and mulatto). It is generally agreed, however, that the percentage of "mixed blood" is much higher, perhaps as much as half the population. (The island's Caribbean Indians were almost totally wiped out under Spanish colonization.).

Cayo Coco boasts 21 km (13 miles) of impeccable white sandy beaches with first-class facilities for water sports. Flamingos and pelicans strut along the coast, and the interior is covered by dense forest. Casasa on the northeast coast offers excellent opportunities for deep-sea fishing.

Caressed by the prevailing north east trade winds, the island's climate is agreeably sub-tropical, most often around 25C (77F), rising to an average 28C (82F) in July and August and "dipping" to 22C (71F) in the coolest month, February. The east, especially the mountains, gets more rain than the west. The hurricane season is from June to November, most likely in September and October and more often in the west around Havana and Pinar del Rio than in the east. Storm winds can reach 250 kph (156 mph). Swimmers take note: Caribbean waters are slightly warmer than the Atlantic.

The island's population is just over 11,000,000 and a fifth of them is living in Havana, the largest city in the Caribbean-in addition to some 700,000 exiles, mostly in Miami. Other major cities are Santiago de Cuba (440,000), Camagiiey (294,000) and Holguin (242,000).

The list of places to visit and things to do goes on and on. The options are immeasurable for your holidays to Cuba. The last advice is to keep researching so that you can enjoy your holidays to the fullest.

Cuban Holidays. Things you shoud know and see.

By Jose Mauricio Maurette

Are you thinking about a holiday to Cuba? Here is one Caribbean island where you would not want to spend all your time on the beach. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. The heritage of Cuba is so rich as are the monuments and palaces throughout the country. A Cuban Holiday is without a doubt one to consider.

These are just some of the facts to consider and places and things you should not miss in your holidays to Cuba.

Crime:Cuba is much safer than other Latin American countries-and many places in North America. Pickpockets, however, work the tourist areas of Havana and the resort towns. A much sought- after item is your passport, so keep it well-protected. Street-corner hustlers (jineteros) are an in evitable offshoot of tourism and economic difficulties, but beggars and anyone else that hassles you can be shooed off with a calm "Por favor, no moleste "- "Please, don't bother me."

Copa Rum Night Club in Havana: Replacing the legendary Palacio de Ia Salsa, the old hotel's night club has been refurbished to capture the glittering atmosphere of the 1950s. Under the Old Nick name of the famous Copacabana, it has two floorshows, at 10 p.m. and midnight, with prices moderately expensive.

Caf Cantante night Club in Havana: There are no frills here, and the prices are more modest, but the performance of Havana's most celebrated son and salsa groups such as Los Van Van and Charanga Habanera make this club in the basement of the national theatre a favourite nightspot for young Cubans. You may have to compete with long queues of Habaneros to get in, but it is well worth it for the high-octane ambience. Whether there is a concert or disco, people are dancing non stop.

Diving: At Havana, Marina Hemingway, 20km (12 miles) west of the city centre, provides good facilities and training courses for sCuba diving, as do most of the major resorts. Aficionados home in on Cayo Coco and MarIa La Gorda. For exploring underwater caves, try Varadero and Playa Girn. Both Varadero (through Cubancan Nautica near the Kawama hotel) and Havana's Marina Hemingway rent out yachts for day trips or for overnight with lobster meals and drinks galore.

There is a lot more to see and do in Cuba other than this few interesting places. Hundreds of beautiful beach and city locations can not be put in just one article. Stay tune to this article directory as there will be more useful information about Cuba coming soon.

Scottish Castles: Balmoral

By Angus MacLeod

The tourist industry is now so great in Scotland that it is a major part of the nation's economy. Part of the nation's appeal is it's wonderful countryside but it is Scotland's incredible history which helps create a vacation that is full of excitement, exploration and adventure. One of the main Scottish tourist attractions is Edinburgh Castle but there are a great many more castles in Scotland open to the public including Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire.

In 1603, when the thrones of Scotland and England were united, it seemed as though the Royal Family lost all interest in Scotland in preference to it's richer, southern, neighbor. It was not until 1822 that interest was generated by the famous author Sir Walter Scott when he arranged a visit for King George IV. The "one and twenty daft days", as it became known, was full of pageantry which included many embellishments of Scott's romantic ideas of medieval Scotland.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, as had the whole of society, had been heavily influenced by Sir Walter Scott's novels which gave Scotland a romantic appeal. During his trip to Scotland George IV had stayed at Balmoral Estate. The estate dates back to 1390 and was where King Robert II of Scotland had once had a hunting lodge. These facts, and the favorable report from the doctor (Sir James Clark) led Queen Victoria to hire the estate, for their vacation, sight unseen.

Although the property in which they stayed in at Balmoral was rather small (it had rooms much smaller than those they were used to) the pair quickly fell in love with the place. They spent many vacations there taking country walks together and, in 1852, Prince Albert bought the whole estate for about 30,000.

Following the purchase of the estate it was decided that the residence was far too small for the growing family and that they were in need of a new building. Balmoral Castle, designed by the Aberdeen architect, was completed in 1856.

Since Prince Albert purchased the estate it has remained the private property of the British Royal Family distinctly separate from the royal estate. As well as Balmoral Castle the, fully working, estate consists of over 100 buildings and 50,000 acres of land. It is also Queen Elizabeth II's summer retreat.

In 1861 Queen Victoria suffered the death of her husband Prince Albert. Deep in grief the Queen chose to isolate herself and chose to spend more time than ever at Balmoral Castle where she and him had been so happy together. In 1997 Balmoral also witnessed the grief of another royal, Queen Elizabeth II. Diana, Princess of Wales, had died in France and when the queen was told she decided, much to the consternation of her public, to remain there rather than returning to London, which most people had expected her to do.

Of course the royal family have a number of residences to which they can spend time and they can visit virtually anywhere on the planet. However they have a number of places which seem to be dear to them. One such place is the Outer Hebrides and, in particular, the Isle of Harris. To this day various members of the royal family make the long trek to visit the islands. However it is Balmoral Castle which is most associated with the family's private times.

Guide to Sightseeing in Benidorm and the Costa Blanca

By Ray Walberg

There are many different sights to see in Benidorm and in the Costa Blanca. Benidorm itself is a very popular tourist attraction, it is located 45km to the east of Alicante. During the summer the city has a very active and vibrant night life. There are around 1000 restaurants and 30 discos, which means there?s plenty for everyone to do! Lots of tourists from all over Europe visit this area for their vacation.

Things you will want to see in the Costa Blanca and Benidorm

When you visit Benidorm you will almost certainly want to visit the Castle of Conde de Alfax. This has fantastic dinner shows that have knights fighting on horses. You can back whichever knight you want to throughout the show. The fighting knights have swords, spears and shields. A medieval style dinner is also served during the show. There are many different types of food available, including pork ribs, soup, potatoes, roast chicken, bread. There are also some fantastic drinks such as beer, and my personal favorite Sangria.

Another fantastic place to spend your night is the Benidorm palace. This puts on a floor show on most days of the week. This is a fantastic show, with multiple forms of entertainment, including singing, dancing, magicians and comedians.

By far the most popular attractions in the city are the beaches, this is true during the day at least. This can also be said for most of the Costa Blanca. If you want to visit a popular beach then you might want to look at the Playa de Poniente. This beach is popular because it is located on a main road and gets lots of passing traffic. If you want to relax on a beach then you will want a quieter beach, an ideal beach is the Playa de Levante. This beach is much more relaxing beach because it is located well off the beaten track.

Visiting Theme Parks in Costa Blanca and Benidorm

A very popular water park in Benidorm is Aqualandia Park. This has many swimming pools and waterslides throughout the park. It has rides which are suitable for young and old kids alike. The adventureland area is very popular with younger children as there are gentler slides, pools and fountains.

Another very well known and popular theme park in Benidorm is the Terra Mitica. This theme park has an Ancient history theme and is very popular with teenagers. This is a very good place to visit because all of the food is based on recipes taken from ancient civilizations throughout time. You will also find many souvenirs related to ancient civilizations

If you like water parks then you might also want to check out the Mundomar Aquatic Park. This s a great place to take families as they teach you about marine animals. There are seals and sea lions which are trained to perform to the public.

Mundomar also has a children?s park which has swings, slides, nets, ramps and bridges. There are also some climbing walls which are entertaining for the kids. Children will really enjoy visiting this park as they get to see dolphins swimming under the water through glass walls.

Lodging in Key West

By Mikey West

Key West lodging includes both luxury and cheap places for you, along with a selection of places in between those two ends of the spectrum. Key West is a tourist destination and all rooms are priced accordingly. The most expensive time is from Christmas to Easter.

There are several Key West hotels and resorts with one hundred or more rooms. At those you will find a nice beach, large swimming pools and spas, and dining rooms on the property. The largest such place is the Casa Marina Resort, which has over 300 rooms and suites. Familiar names like Doubletree, Sheraton, Westin and Hyatt are present.

There also are hotels with less than one hundred rooms but most of the comforts and conveniences you find at the larger places. Hyatt is the leading name in this category.

Treasures abound in the smaller Key West hotels under fifty rooms in size. Some fine ones are the Sunset Keys Guest Cottages, the Gardens Hotel, the Marquesa Hotel and the Santa Maria Suites. For something different, you should give one a try.

Key West hotels include the familiar national brands costing you less for a room. Courtyard, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Travelodge, Days Inn and Best Western are just a few among the many.

There are some hotels and motels in Key West that do not have a franchise relationship with any name brand hotel chain. Those properties are able to determine their own sets of standards and procedures. You might find one to be a great deal. I haven't had the experience and can't refer you to any particular one.

There are many Key West bed and breakfast houses. Your room rate includes a breakfast, either continental or full. The place has fewer rooms than a hotel. You may get a private bath or you might share a bathroom with other guests. An owner or manager will live onsite for personal service.

Key West has but one youth hostel. Here you will find the town's lowest rates. You can share a common room and bathroom and have access to a kitchen. The owner does not permit alcoholic beverages on the property.

Ecotourism Adventure: Problem or Solution?

By Peter Wilson

For some, there is one question that is uncomfortable when asked. For a few, this question is even disturbing because it threatens the positive impact that ecotourism can have on the tourism industry and on the world environment. But some have asked the question nonetheless: Is ecotourism becoming a problem, or is it almost entirely beneficial?

There is a large segment of the population that knows little or nothing about the concept of ecotourism. The members of this segment of society generally participate in more traditional mass/recreation tourism, basing their travels in a city and giving no thought to the natural resources that are being exploited. There is, however, a portion of the world population that is quite aware of the ecotourism concept and they want to understand the idea more fully so they can decide for themselves if this segment of the tourism industry is a good thing or a bad thing.

It might be wise to begin with a fundamental understanding of ecotourism. Only then can the thought process move on to whether it is a good influence or a negative influence on the resources and cultures of the planet.

Those who take part in ecotourism travel to a selected destination so that they can experience the culture, wildlife and scenery the site has to offer. Most ecotourism participants are committed, socially conscious individuals who want an adventure that involves preserving resources and even restoring some of the areas to their natural state. Ecotourism gives travelers the opportunity to grow personally, through an experience that cannot be duplicated.

Ecotourism has its roots in the idea of individual travelers being socially, culturally and environmentally informed so that they can avoid having a negative impact on their surroundings. In addition, these travelers try to enhance the integrity of destinations and encourage the traditional cultures of local populations.

With this type of individual involved, can ecotourism really be a problem for the globe and its inhabitants? Some would say that this is not the case, because the vision of ecotourism is to help eliminate pollution and to celebrate diversity in nature and culture. Such actions can only be good for tourism as a whole, some would argue. If tourists walk, with backpacks, instead of driving, ecotourists would ask, isn't that a positive impact?

There are some, however, who find that ecotourism is becoming a problem for others who enjoy nature. For example, some lifelong scuba divers are encountering a growing number of beginning divers who take to the sea because they feel they should enjoy and celebrate the magnificent aquatic life in our oceans. These experienced divers sometimes draw criticism from ecotourism proponents who believe that human beings should not scuba dive because it disturbs the natural flow and rhythm of the ocean dwellers. I took one such trip to alicante, Spain last summer.

Most clear-thinking individuals will come to their own conclusions, based on experiences within the ecotourism or mass tourism fields. For most, however, ecotourism is not a problem, because these individuals believe the activity is beneficial. There may be no clear-cut answer in this ongoing debate.

Combine Travelling And Ecotourism: It Helps

By Johnathan Bakers

At the heart of any discussion about the environment and the preservation of natural resources, one must now ask why ecotourism is important. There may be several parts to the answer, not the least of which is that the combination of travelling and environmental issues creates awareness of some critical issues before us in the 21st century.

Opinions vary, but awareness may be the missing piece in a puzzle that bothers us and intrigues at the same time. Take for example, the formerly beautiful Delaware River. Over the course of decades, the damage to this stream became nearly irreversible. Some pointed to public apathy, while others stated that most people were simply not aware there was a problem.

Eventually the sad and dangerous condition of the river caused a great public outcry. At first, there was nothing to be done but prevent further pollution, because the damage had been done, so to speak. It became clear that the general public had not been aware of the severity of damage. No government or private agency had taken the lead in educating the populace.

At one time, the Delaware River was a clear, navigable stream filled with diverse aquatic life. Travelers made the banks of this river a holiday destination, where they could sit in the sun, try their hand at fishing or even swim in the clear waters. Boating was a common activity on the Delaware River, in the early years.

But, as the saying goes, that was yesterday, and yesterday is gone. Fifty years ago, hundreds looked to the Delaware River for a brief respite from everyday life. Sadly, this is no longer the case. Pollution in incredible amounts has killed the animal life, destroyed vegetation and eliminated the once-thriving tourism activity surrounding the stream. In turn, the local economy suffered as well.

Unfortunately, the damage didn't stop at the Delaware River's banks. Pollutants from the larger stream travelled to small tributaries, destroying much of the plant and animal life there as well. While this is just one example of the negative effects of pollution, it is a great example of how lack of awareness leads to irreversible situations. With this in mind, we must ask why ecotourism is important. The simple answer is that this new way of looking at travel and tourism can be the vehicle for public awareness. Those who experience some of the most beautiful places in the world, places that have unmatched natural resources and cultures, can pass the word along about preserving these treasures. I would suggest visiting benidorm as the weather and scenery is beautiful. Ecotourism is much more than a trend within the tourism industry. It is also a key to maintaining our planet as a place to live and enjoy.

From this basis, the larger population can be informed about the importance of conservation efforts. Without this awareness it will be difficult, if not impossible, to put together an effective movement to preserve and protect our natural resources. In just a few short years, the ecotourism movement has already been key in keeping the environmental momentum alive and well. For many, taking part in this new field of ecotourism is not a matter of leisure and enjoyment alone. It is also a commitment to the global society and to the natural world.

The Hawaiian City Of Kailua-Kona

By Lena Hellsten

The Big Island holds 11 different climate zones of the world, and if you're looking for a lot of sun and a gentle breeze, you'd probably spend most of your Hawaiian holiday on the west side of the island. The city on the west where most people end up is called Kailua-Kona.

In the area around Kona you find a lot of white-sand beaches with calm, gentle waves. The city and its surroundings offers natural beauty that can bring you into a graceful state of calmness.

You'll find Kona at the foot of the volcano Hualalai. It's a city that has a lot of modern tourist attraction as well as numerous historical sites. You will see a lot of hotels and lodging and also a lot of restaurants and bars, yet Kona still has been able to keep its charm and calmness.

Kona is an ancient city and in the early years it was home to numerous Hawaiian kings. When the missionaries came in the 19th century, the expansion continued, with a lot of churches and houses being built. They also turned Kona into the main seaport of the Big Island. In the middle of the sea you find Kailua Pier which gives you a good view over the whole area. This is also a perfect spot to watch the sunset from.

Just at the side of the pier you find Kamakahonu Beach. Here you can spend your day, relaxing in the sun on the white sand and swimming in the calm water. The beach is not too busy, but you can still find some beach activities. The water is great for snorkelling and there are canoe rentals.

Ali'i Drive is the main street of the city and it goes along the seafront side of Kona. Here you find a lot of restaurants, shops and hotels and you'll probably end up here at your stay in Kona.

Kona is situated close to the Airport and is therefore easily accessible. It's popular to have it as your main location when you're at the Big Island and make daily trips to other areas of the island. In the area you can easily activate yourself by going on a boat cruise or by doing some hiking or horse-back riding.

Kona is the great place to have as a base for your Big Island vacation. Enjoy your stay here with its perfect mixture of modern and ancient.

Safety Tips For A Trouble Free Vacation.

By Henry P. Jones

You can almost guarantee that if there is going to be a problem it will be when you are on vacation in an unfamiliar place but by following a few simple rules, the consequences can be minimized. The trouble is when this happens it leaves you with bad memories of what should be a happy vacation. Other circumstances could mean that you will have to take time out form your vacation to have the Police deal with your complaints.

It doesn't matter if you are visiting a local market or out for an evening meal, traveling safely is about the application of common sense when you are in an unfamiliar location. Nature gave us all a very effective means for survival in unknown circumstances; it's called instinct and you must learn to trust it.

Always be careful about traveling with all your documents and money if you are just going to town to see the sights or have a meal. Take just what you need for the day and leave the rest in the hotel safe as it is better to lose a little, rather then everything.

If you place your cash, traveler's checks and credit cards in various locations about your person, then there is less likelihood of pickpockets stealing all your financial assets and leaving you with nothing. It is also never a good idea for a couple to travel and use the same credit card when it is a simple matter to take a second from a completely different account as a replacement should one be mislaid or taken.

Some of the easiest possessions to steal are bags and cameras owing to the way people carry them without even recognizing that they are an easy target for thieves so ensure the straps are over the head and across the chest if you want to hold on to them. Try to be aware of where you are when you stroll around and don't make an easy target for the snatch thieves on the back of bikes.

There are many ways to scam tourists and you are vulnerable when you are on vacation so it is an easy task as these people are very good at what they do. Complacency is a dangerous trait and we have all been guilty of it when we are on vacation, remember this is what they do every day to make money and feed their families.

One way to stop some of the pick pocketing is to place a padlock on you backpack as any delay means they will usually try on someone else. To prevent you losing your keys, trying using a small D-Shackle, like they use in rock climbing and while it doesn't lock it acts as a deterrent for unwanted hands getting into your bag.

Both men and women lose their wallets and purses because men have wallets in their back pockets and women have their open handbags; so the easiest thing is for men to change the place they keep their wallet and for women to make sure their handbag is closed properly.

The majority of problems could be avoided if people didn't let their guard down, which is common on vacation; if you can remember to travel safely, it won't halt your enjoyment but could stop many untoward events from happening.

What to see in Crete

By Tom Scott

The beautiful and historic Greek island of Crete is a great place to visit to learn about Greek culture and history. However, there is something for all types of tourists on Crete. Some may prefer the more populous tourist attractions, luxurious accommodations and beaches, while some may prefer the more authentic feel of the ancient Minoan ruins.

The Minoan ruins around the island of Crete are truly an exceptional and rare sight. There are many different sites throughout the island. One of the most popular and breathtaking is the Palace of Knossos, in Heraklion. While the original palace was built in approximately 2,000 BC, it was subsequently destroyed and rebuilt in even grander fashion. It is this massive palace that remains and can be visited and walked around.

There are many other Minoan ruin sites around Crete and there are also several museums that contain many artifacts, art collections and information about this ancient civilization. Among these are the Historical Museum of Crete and the Archaeological Museum. The Historical Museum of Crete covers the more recent history of the island and includes many art displays, while the Archaeological Museum, as you can imagine, includes many artifacts of the ancient Minoans. The Archaeological Museum is located in Heraklion, very close to the Palace of Knossos.

If you like castles, one of the largest on the island can be found in Rethymno, which hosts the annual Wine Festival in July. There are also many other festivals held here. Be sure to check them out when you visit. If you plan to visit in July for the Wine Festival, be sure you book your room in advance it can be difficult to find lodging at the last minute during this popular festival.

Don't miss Lake Voulismeni. Located near Agios Nikolaos, you can get a real feel for the culture of Crete here, as well as seeing Bronze Age ruins.

Sitia is the smallest town in Crete, but it has a lot to offer. On the east of town on the waterfront you'll find the Kazarma, a fortress once full of Venetians. Sitia is easy to get to as well the E75 runs right by it, making it very accessible.

So, if you are planning a Crete holiday, make sure to include these cities on your list of places to see. They each hold many historical sites and cultural attractions that will make your visit to Crete unforgettable. Take advantage of your holiday in Crete and submerse yourself in this unique island.

Online Hotel Room Booking

By Kim Yan

When you are trying to book a hotel room, you will probably consider the idea of booking it online. This is because you may be able to get a better deal online. However, you should try to consider the following points when you are booking online.

You may not want to book via a site which does not let you cancel your booking or change the dates. This is because in some cases you may need to cancel your trip. By John Q. Harris

There is nothing like international travel to broaden the mind and fortunately it is now something that almost anyone can afford. You do not need not be rich to engage in traveling this way; a well-planned itinerary is as close as your computer keyboard plus you can find a good airfare if you plan ahead and travel in the of peak seasons, generally in fall and spring.

You'll find the cheapest fares in winter and if you're traveling to Italy or Spain, this can be a plus and with mild winter temperatures you can be really adventurous and footloose. When carrying out your online research, look for people that rent out their own apartments and homes perhaps for a shorter time which may mean it will be less expensive than through other travel agencies

Of course you can expect all the normal creature comforts when you rent the properties. There is nothing like having a breakfast when you are on vacation especially when you prepare it yourself and it gives you a chance to use fresh produce from a foreign country.

With your own laundry facilities it is easy to keep your washing clean and if there is internet access you can send your friends e-cards which won't cost anything. Experiencing a different culture is a great adventure and it's the little things that really reach out and grab you; for example, Seeing and meeting people from other countries will open your mind to new ideas especially when you see things that you wish you had in your own country.

Food is a much more drawn out event than our eat-and-run habit as meals are enjoyed slowly, seasoned with the friendship of your companions plus it is actually quite safe to go out at night in any major European city. Why not head off the normal tourist routes an explore the local areas where you can find some wonderful shops, cafes and the local business where you be able to get a feel for how the local population run their everyday lives. When in a foreign country a real international traveler will make sure that national and local dishes are eaten in typical restaurants or taverns like Italian pizza or Greek Kleftiko. Part of the experience of international travel is getting around, so become adventurous as large cities, such as Paris, have inexpensive and ultra-efficient transport systems making it easy to go anywhere you want.

Traveling light has many advantages and if you can do this it will save a great deal of time and there is less likelihood of lost or damaged luggage if you only have a carry on. This of course means that to do this efficiently, it is good idea to carry everything you need for the trip in a carry on, which will make things simpler; no lost luggage or waiting around the luggage carousel at the airport. It just means that you have to carefully plan what you will need to take and what you can buy at your destination, like toiletries for instance, which means if you can't fit it into the carry on, you can buy it later. Travel does not have to be about huge luggage filled suitcases as truly adventurous travelers know.

Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas Where You Should Be

By Fatimah Edris

This five-star, plush hotel sits right on top of the Mandalay, occupying its top four floors. Guests receive prime privileges, most popular of which is the use of the award- winning water park at Mandalay Bay.

With staff that are both professional and friendly, you will receive the white collar treatment making your stay at The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas be one of the best places to be. The rooms are either provided with L'Occitane or Bulgari bathroom amenities, yes all of the 338 guest rooms and 86 suites.

You will never be hungry because every afternoon, there is high tea in the lovely Veranda. You can enjoy the privilege of coming and going in the privacy you deserve with your own private entrance away from the rest of population there.

Places To Go and Ways To Get To The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas

You will find the following information most useful if this will be your first trip to Las Vegas. The first three casino hotels discussed are connected to a free monorail system that is located right out front to the east of the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas, right on the strip. People movers drift you toward the casinos after you get off the monorail.

Mandalay Bay

A must see is the coral reef exhibit that puts you underneath the up close to the killer sharks and stingrays. The reef is just a short walk from the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas.

Luxor

With the free monorail which is available, you can head to Luxor, which is a huge black pyramid, with its Egyptian theme, has a gigantic beam of light potruding out of the top headed for outer space.

Excalibur

This will be the last stop of the free monorail. Follow the people mover inside where you will see people sitting and eating, with their bare hands, while watching jousting matches below in the sunken pit with the Knights of the Round table at the Excalibur Casino and Hotel.

New York New York is located just across the pedestrian walkway to the north, where the entire front side of this building is made up of skyscrapers, and a huge roller coaster running through and around it. If going on a roller coaster is your passion, then you should try this one out. However if you are a coward like me, do not attempt or try to show off, sit still and enjoy the screaming sounds.

MGM Grand

This giant green complex is located right across the street on the northeast corner of the intersection. Walk over the pedestrian sky bridge, go into the casino and take the escalator down where you will be greeted by wild lions lounging on giant boulders separated only by a very thin piece of glass.

Tropicana

This happens to Las Vegas' oldest casino which is situated on the southeast corner of the intersection. After you have crossed the sky bridge, be sure to begin from the top. You will see there is a giant slot machine sitting there where you receive a free pull on. If you want to watch the live shows or visit the museum, then go down into the casino.

Enough activity for the first day, if enough you should get the. Then I suppose, it's time to return to the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. Before that cross that sky bridge and take that free monorail home.

Hope you are going to enjoy your stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas

Airplane Charter

By Eric Airplane

The private air charter industry had its beginnings in traditional corporate air charter. Now air charter is popular with individuals, entertainers, business executives and sports teams as well. Modern airplane charter is used in freight, cargo, organ donation and air ambulance missions.

This sort of flying is known by several other names, such as jet charter, air taxi and executive charter. By any name, all of these flights are the same thing.

This is a good alternative to aircraft ownership. There are some different ways you can do it. The historic way is on demand charter. That way involves a trip by trip system. As the charter flier, you reserve an aircraft to fly you from one airfield to another. You can pay before or after the flight. You will find that the charter rates do vary, so it will pay for you to shop around for the best rate. You may book your flight by contacting a local air charter provider or using a national air charter broker.

Jet cards are another option. They serve as flight debit cards. First you need to put down a couple of hundred thousand dollars. After you do so you will get to fly on a certain type of airplane for a predetermined number of flight hours. If you do not use all of your flight hours by their expiration date, they will expire or you will get a refund for your unused balance.

Today the fractional ownership programs are becoming increasingly popular. You purchase your own interest in an airplane or a type of aircraft, but you share the use of your aircraft with the others who also own interests. While you own an interest, it is the air charter companies that actually own the physical aircraft. It is up to those companies to maintain the airplanes for you. Those companies also will be able to supply your pilots and your flight crews, as well as the catering you order.

With fractional ownership you buy an exact share of the aircraft. Your share will vary from 1/16 to 1/2. Your share entitles you to usage for a set number of flight hours. The minimum usually is 50 hours per year. You also will be paying for each flight hour, along with fuel costs and any flight fees.

Jet charter airplanes do come in quite a variety of sizes and shapes. The larger jets are those known as heavy jets. As you may have guessed, the others are known as medium jets and light jets. The smallest of the jets is a very light jet, known as a VLJ. If you think jets may be out of your desired price range, you can always choose to become the fractional owner of a single-engine piston airplane.

If you plan a shorter trip, then a helicopter charter might be right. The aircraft charter service has grown rapidly in recent years with the vast spread of the Internet. Now the information on the locations and availability of different aircraft is accessible nationally. Instead of your having just a few yellow pages choices, you now can go online or can let one of the air charter brokers find a flight for you.

New Cheap Airfare Information

By Daisy Beverly

People planning to make a trip at the summer or any other period of the year need to exhaust all means they can to obtain cheap airfare. The one thing you must admit about cheap airfare is the menace of overbooking flight seats and which sadly is regarded as the norm these days.

Instead of whining about the situation, you can turn it to your advantage to get a discounted airfare. The way to go is thus- one day before your departure, phone the travel agent or airline and ask about the flight, this will show you its booking status- whether it's overbooked or not overbooked.

When flights are overbooked you should make sure you arrive at the airport 2 good hours ahead of time because this will place you at the head of the queue.

It's time to act- you should volunteer to be bumped when asked by the airline (they are obligated legally to do this) but only after getting a concession in the form of a discounted airfare. The moment you are given the concession, invoke the familiar rule many airline staff are familiar with; number 240, which stipulates that you must be aboard the next available flight.

By unfailingly checking the special offer sections on the websites of airlines before booking a flight, you can also get cheap airfare as this area is where several discounted airfare packages can be found.

When you select different major airports that are close to your final destination, you can get cheap airfare and also turn an otherwise expensive trip into an affordable one. One good example is to go for New York's JFK airport if you are dropping off finally in Montreal; even though the two cities are separated by a couple of hours drive, the money you will save is worth the trouble.

Don't give any company money to sell your timeshare, even if they claim to have buyers lined up or if they claim to be seeking a processing or service fee. A company that doesn't ask for cash before the process begins is more likely to be trustworthy.

Once you decide whether you're going to sell it yourself or employ someone else to, you have to determine your asking price. What sounds like a good number? Everything that you invested? Don't get your hopes up.

Therefore you should resolve yourself to the fact that you're not going to get what you paid for it in most cases. You can research what comparable weeks are selling for on several websites. E-Bay auctions timeshare resales and there are several databases with recent sales figures. Decide on a figure that you feel comfortable with after doing some research and go for it.

An abundance of listing places exist once you've made your decision. A number of operating online sites list timeshare properties being sold worldwide, with some success. In addition, you may want to consider an auctioneer like e-Bay.

There are many different things you can do to get rid of your timeshare and being flexible will give you a better chance. Keep trying different incentives to discover one that works. Timeshares sell everyday and yours will sell too.

Flights to Aberdeen

By Craig Wilson

Getting a flight to Aberdeen is a lot easier today than it was a number of years ago since the introduction of the internet and all the low cost airlines. If you are just looking for a cheap flight to Aberdeen or for the airline with the best flight times by following the simple information here you can find the best flight options and fares to Aberdeen airport.

Getting the best fare or flight times can be a bit of a lottery unless you do a little research. You can check online to see who has flights operating to Aberdeen or contact a travel agent and ask them to do all the checking for you. The other option is to call all the airlines and ask them if they have flights to Aberdeen and what their fares and flight times are.

Calling a travel agent is a quick and easy solution in finding the best flight to Aberdeen. However this can be the most expensive as travel agents will add a booking or reservation fee to your flight cost. Most airlines pay little or no commission to the travel agents anymore and to make any money they have to add a charge. They may find the flight to Aberdeen you are looking for but it will cost you more than doing it yourself.

Calling around all the airlines can take to longest and will take up the most time. Not only could you be calling an airline that does not operate flights to Aberdeen, it could even cost you money to find this out. Most airlines especially the low cost ones tend to have reservation numbers that are at a premium rate and even then you could be put on hold.

Online internet search engines can provide all the information you need once you find the most relevant web site featuring Aberdeen flights. Simply input a search such as "Aberdeen Flights" or "Aberdeen cheap flight" and look for the most suitable web site from the results. To do this, simply visit either MSN, Google or Yahoo and it could be as simple as that.

If the price of your flight to Aberdeen is the most important factor in your decision then you should remember that off-peak flights and travelling on mid-week flights offer the best chance of the cheapest fares. By booking as early as possible this can save you money but this will generally mean that you will be unable to change or alter your flight in any way. This is not a suitable option if you are travelling for a specific business meeting at a specific time or for a meeting that could be altered at the last minute.

If you are worried about making you reservation online then once you know what airline you wish to travel on then this is the best time to call them. If you are using a travel agent they can often provide suggestions to make your journey shorter or suggest a route you have not thought of that could save you time and money. Searching on the internet yourself is cheaper however not if you spend a day and you could have spent your time more productively.

It is always best to pay for your flights by credit card, always take printouts of your booking and make sure you use a valid email address when booking online as most airlines will email you confirmation. Low cost airlines do not operate tickets and all you need is the booking reference or the printout.

International Traveler - Discover the world around you.

By Neil J. Daniel

It is not until you actually travel internationally that you really appreciate the different types of cultures around the world. The world is a much more accessible place even for people on a moderate salary and there are huge savings to be made if you carry out your own research and book over the internet especially if you don't travel during peak times.

You will be hard pushed to find more pleasant European destinations in the winter than Greece, Italy, the South of France and Spain especially when they do not have the colder temperatures of their Northern European cousins. If you want to save even more money you can look for villas, apartments or houses owned by private citizens who rent them out for shorter periods so you may be able to have a longer trip without a cost penalty.

There is no need to think that you will suffer without facilities like the internet, fully equipped kitchens, telephone either. Of course making use of the kitchen will save some money if you have your breakfast there every morning before you spend the day exploring the local sights.

By having the facility to wash and iron your clothes you can save more money on having them professionally laundered and greetings cards can be sent for no charge over the internet. It's the little things you notice when you visit any foreign country and while most peoples daily lives are not much different to our own it is the small customs and idiosyncrasies are what make each country unique.

Food is a much more drawn out event than our eat-and-run habit as meals are enjoyed slowly, seasoned with the friendship of your companions plus it is actually quite safe to go out at night in any major European city. Seeing and meeting people from other countries will open your mind to new ideas especially when you see things that you wish you had in your own country.

International travel exposes you to new cuisines and you may never taste an authentic Spanish Paella, French Pistou or Italian pizza unless you take the leap and immerse yourself in your travel destination of choice. Most European cities have excellent transit systems that are inexpensive and just beg to be used if you are in the mood to explore a city which most international travelers are!

With today's many restrictions on baggage, plan for only carry-on luggage that way you will avoid lost luggage and the dreaded walking and waiting time at the carousel. However, if this is how you like to travel then restricting how much you carry with you is paramount and being able to fit everything you need into hand luggage can save a great deal of time at the airport.

You may not think this is possible but it is; you just need to remember that many of the essentials of traveling like toiletries will be available almost everywhere you travel too. This is an exciting way to travel, light and easy and finding a new place to visit is as easy as searching on the internet.

Planning a Summer Trip? Make Sure To Pack These Items in Your Car

By Amy Nutt

Summer car trips can make great family memories, or they can be great big disasters. Before you head out on the open road with the kids in tow, make sure that you have everything you need and have checked your car over for safety. Nothing would be worse than getting on the road without some important item!

Car Safety Checklist

One thing you definitely want to do before heading out for a big trip is to check your car to make sure it is safe. Car problems are sometimes unavoidable, but you would not want to ruin your big summer trip over a problem that could have been avoided. Here are the things you should always check before leaving home:

- Tire Pressure - make sure there is enough air in the tires. Check the owner's manual to see how much pressure your tires should have. - Oil - check the oil level and add oil if needed. - Transmission fluid - check the transmission fluid levels and add more if needed. - Other fluids - check the brake fluid, washer fluid, and power-steering fluid levels as well. - Seat belts - check seat belts to make sure they lock correctly and are not worn out. - Lights - make sure all lights on your car work, including turn signals and high beams. - Wipers - make sure your wiper blades are in good condition. If they are old, consider replacing them before you leave. - Battery - check the battery terminal for corrosion. - Spare tire - make sure your spare tire is ready to be used if needed. Make sure you have a jack to use if you have a flat.

Your car is in good shape for your trip if you have checked all of these items.

Personal Safety Checklist

Once you know your car is in working order, make sure that you have the personal safety items your family would need if you were stranded for a day or so. Of course, this is likely not going to happen, but if it does you need to be prepared. Here is what you need to have:

- First-aid kit - Tool kit - Jumper cables - Warm blanket (if traveling where it cools off at night) - Non-perishable food - Bottled water - Flairs or hazard sign - Emergency entertainment items if traveling with children

If you have this in an emergency kit in your car, you will be in good shape if you end up on the side of the road with car trouble.

Personal Checklist

Now that you have your safety concerns met, you need to make sure that you have the personal items you need on the road. Before you leave, make sure you have the following:

- Wallet or purse - Some cash - Credit card for emergencies (even if you don?t intend to use it) - ID - House keys - Sunglasses - Insurance cards - Snacks - Sewing kit - Pillows

These items will help your trip to be as comfortable as possible.

Children's Checklist

If you are traveling with children, there are a few essentials you must have. Kids are not as patient in the car as adults, so they need to stay entertained and fed. Make sure you have these before leaving on a family summer trip:

- Travel toys - avoid those toys that will get dropped and send mom on a hunt for tiny pieces - Travel media player or movie player - Books on tape - Healthy snacks - Leak-proof beverages - Diapers (if needed)- - Change of clothes for each child - Pacifiers (if used by babies) - Bottles and bottle gear

If you have the things on each of these checklists, you should have a pleasant trip and not require roadside assistance. Even if something unexpected happens, you will be prepared. So pack up, get on the road, and have fun on your next summer trip!

These will be beneficial whether driving across the US or Spain.

Small Car Rental Companies

The large rental chains have the most loyal customers and have a large number of locations from the US to Spain and variety of vehicles but they don?t always offer the best rest.

There isn't a friendlier city in the world and one where almost anything is possible with plenty of shopping malls, great food of every type and specialist shops like Outdoor World at the top of International Drive with a 17,000 gallon super aquarium, this store is so large you could spend all day there. This article highlights some of the other visitor attractions that you could see on an Orlando vacation which are not as well publicized as the theme parks but are equal in their ability to please.

The Central Florida Zoo for instance only opened back in 1975 and was owned by the Sanford Fire Department prior to that but is the home to over four hundred animals and is well worth a visit. Even though it is privately owned, it is run by a charitable group with the intention of providing classes for children and protecting species that are only found in Florida and other world wide exotic animals.

For tourists that like to burn the candle at both ends there is a range of nightly entertainment from the themed family evenings like Pirates Adventure or medieval Feasts to more adult based entertainment at Disney's pleasure Island or Universal's Citywalk. Whilst it may seem that Orlando has been created for the entertainment of children that could not be further from the truth as there is plenty here for everyone.

The Orlando Science Center is another of the major attractions of Orlando and its four-story center is the biggest of its kind in the Southeast, offering 10 exhibit halls that allow visitors everything from the Florida swamplands to the dry plains of Mars to the physical body. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the nation's largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

If you have seen the Titanic-ship of Dreams film then you will enjoy the exhibition along International Drive that tells the story using large sets and depictions from the ship as a background, to the often eerie tale. Lake Eola Park on the other hand has a pleasant 43 acres to stroll around and relax or perhaps some boating on the lake.

Of course how could you possibly visit Orlando and not go to at least one theme park and for those of you who are unsure; Disney has four main theme parks, not including the water parks, and Universal has it's own versions but the beautiful Seaworld should also not be forgotten either. Whatever you want from a vacation, Orlando can supply and you don't have to work hard at finding it either but next time your there, try some of the other attractions, you won't be disappointed.

If you are thinking to primarily rest following a hard lengthy period of work and at the same time looking for some interaction with the Cuban way of life then I would propose you to do a twin centre holiday. There are lots of alternatives and I will point out in this article which in my estimation are the most appealing ones.

Havana and Varadero: Perfect recipe for persons who are not attracted by the idea of having to travel long hours on the road. Located only 80 miles from Havana City, Varadero can be reached in less than 2 hours. Havana, well it will where you will be doing most of your sightseeing, exploring museums, soaking up the atmosphere of the real Cuba, having a drive in a very old American Car, enjoying a Mojito or tasting a nice cigar. Varadero instead will be the place to relax and enjoy its beaches and all inclusive facilities.

Havana and Cayo Santa Maria: If you are looking to combine culture, history and a very relaxing beach destination then you have to go for this one. Cayo Santa Maria is one of the newest developments, therefore its hotels and there are only 3 in this island they are all in excellent shape. The standard of service is very high, I particularly recommend Sol Melia Cayo Santa Maria Hotel. It is a 5 star hotels and it also has the best SPA installation and service that I have seen in Cuba.

Havana and Jibacoa: This twin centre holiday is ideal for those who like to relax far from that comes with some huge beach resorts. It is very close to Havana. So if you feel you did not have enough of the Capital and its night life or its restaurants you can very easily take a taxi from Breezes Jibacoa Hotel and you will be in Havana in less than 1 hour. Not very expensive a taxi will cost about 30 Cuban convertible pesos (15 Sterling pounds).

There are of course more options and if you are interested in knowing more about Cuba you can always get in touch. I love to share my experiences in Cuba with the readers

The Lodge at Tiburon Gets Glowing Reviews

By Steve Collins

When my boss let us know that our firm was holding a sales conference in northern California my first thought was ?You have to be kidding.? My second thought was, ?My wife is going to hate me!? We live in a frozen, isolated area of Maine and business trips had already forced me to be gone several weeks this winter, leaving my wife alone in the house with two bored preschoolers. She was already dissatisfied with me. This would send her over the edge!

Then I found out the destination--San Francisco! Our conference at the Lodge at Tiburon would be minimally demanding with spouses welcome! My wife and I had long dreamed about the idea of a taking a second honeymoon to San Francisco. What ideal timing! After a long, icy winter, a few days in the mild California climate would be just what the doctor ordered.

Suddenly I was her knight in shining armor again. She immediately got the grandparents to come baby sit and started packing! We researched the area and knew what we were going to visit, but nothing prepared us for our lodgings. The site was amazing. It was easily the most distinctive place we have ever stayed. It was right on the San Francisco Bay, a lovely ride from the city.

The whole place had a comforting, ambient glow to it. The Craftsman style has always been a favorite of mine, with its handsome emphasis of wood and fine lines. The guest rooms were amazing. I felt as if someone had invited me to spend a week in their luxurious home instead of in a unimaginative, cookie-cutter hotel room. The amenities were special, too-comfy robes, high quality beds, cookies in the lobby, and Craftsmen furniture. Outside there was a fire pit on the patio. We spent our evenings in the rocking chairs, making plans in the glow of the fire, rekindling our relationship.

San Francisco was all we dreamed it would be, and I can think of no better place from which to explore! The Lodge at Tiburon was ideal in everyway. I have never dreaded saying goodbye to a place more.

The doctors and clinics are generally reluctant to accept the cards of some other country or certain medical institutes may not be familiar or associated with your native insurance providers. The same thing would be difficult or even impossible if the insurance have been purchased in a foreign land.

Once visitors insurance is purchased, the insurance holder is given an identification card that needs to be displayed at the time of seeking medical assistance from a hospital or doctor. The insurance company will furnish such a clinic or hospital with written instructions for the likely medical expenses that can be claimed under the policy.

The insurance company evaluates any claim made, makes appropriate payments to the hospital or the clinic stated as per the policy. Some companies also accept the possibility of injuries arising out of accidents, terrorism or war in their respective policies. Cruise Etiquette: Dos and Don'ts

By Amy Nutt

A cruise can be the perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily living and just enjoy a week or two without responsibilities. Many people are a bit nervous about how they should act on a cruise ship though and aren`t sure exactly what is acceptable behavior. With that in mind, here are a few dos and don`ts to help you out.

Do

Tip your steward. This is only fair, considering that he or she will be working hard during the voyage to keep your cabin neat and clean. Stewards also honor special requests and can help you find items or places you need. The tip should be given at the end of the cruise and should amount to about $3.50 a day.

Tip the wait staff. When you eat in the main dining hall every evening, you will likely be assigned a waiter who will be with you for the duration of the cruise. Nightly tipping isn`t expected, but you most certainly will want to give a tip at the end of the cruise, usually on the final night. How much is up to you, depending on the service of the waiter, but the norm is around $3-4 per day.

Be courteous. When you are polite and friendly with the crew, you`ll find that they are far more willing to help you out than if you are always snapping orders at them. Be nice and they`ll be nice right back.

Take the time to thank people. While on a cruise, you should still keep your manners about you and thank everyone who does something for you . . . even if they are being paid to do so. A simple thanks can go a long way.

Don`t

Criticize everything. Yes, you paid good money to go on this cruise, but hopefully you did enough research to know what to expect. Relax and enjoy the cruise, rather than looking at the bad side of things.

Become a cruise stalker. While you are bound to make new friends on the cruise, it`s one thing to get together for bingo and drinks, quite another to follow them around the ship all day! It`s a good idea to befriend several people so you have a variety of friends to hang out with, even if you aren`t with a partner.

Complain to random crew members. Cruise ships are usually big and if you have a complaint, you should go through the proper channels and not just pick someone at random who probably has no idea what you are talking about and can`t possibly help you. Instead, speak to the manager of the area you are having issues with. For example, if your problem is with the waiter, speak to the head waiter.

Slam your cabin door. Taking a moment to close it quietly, particularly at night, will help keep the peace among your neighbors! The same goes for talking loudly in the corridor . . . it can really be obnoxious to fellow passengers.

Cruise ship etiquette is really like any other etiquette. Unfortunately, many people use this time to gripe about the service and weather and just be rude in general. Just because you are outside your normal environment, doesn`t mean you should be able to act any way you please and it`s a good idea to remember this when you choose to go on a cruise. You`ll enjoy it a lot more, too, when the staff responds to you nicely because you`ve treated them well.
